The coffer dam (in the foreground) is in place at the site of the Morrisville bypass bridge across the Lamoille River.  The background of this photo shows work has also started on the southern side abutment of the bridge.  Project Superintendent Min Cote said concrete will be poured all winter as they get the footings ready to hold steel come spring.  He said the spring work will be dependent on when the spring water levels are safe, because they will have to build a causeway over to an island in the center for a crane.                                                                                                                                                                                     Smith photo

Francis LaFountain is the new owner of the former Eden General Store. LaFountain purchased the building at auction on Friday, October 5. He has 45 days to make sure the financing is all in place before the sale is final.  LaFountain, who owns the Hardwick Quick-Mart and a store in Island Pond, plans to bring fresh meats back to the store and plans to run it more in the style of a market than a convenience store.         Smith photo
