“The great work of our time … is moving the human community from its present situation as a destructive presence on the planet to a benign or mutually enhancing presence. It’s that simple, said Thomas Berry, cultural historian, scholar of evolutionary history...

Hence our job is to transform ourselves to be the most compassionate we can be, and join with others to transform our human presence to benevolence...

This Symposium considers humanity’s options for the future of our world. We explore  the links between environmental sustainability, social fair-play and our sense of fulfillment as human beings. Combining speakers and powerful videos, the program invites our wisdom and commitment to become freshly engaged. We are invited to explore what each of us can do, both individually and collaboratively, to creatively shift our common future to one of vibrant, thriving sustainability.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

- I envision myself and the planet getting healthier and happier.
I see myself gaining insight and skills and helping others to do the same. I see more human beings realizing that our species will thrive when we let go of greed and embrace generosity.  We will experience resurgence when we share with one another, and let go of domination, embrace partnership, transitioning as one and many to a healthier, happier people. That's my vision, every day.

Meditation - Prayer
May we be more  fully aware, each moment, feeling, thinking, appreciating mother earth and all beings, giving loving kindness to all - together may we create heaven on earth, here and now - may we let go of fear and war and profiting at others' expense - may we embrace our good fortune and work together to bring food, shelter, good health, peace and joy for all on the planet.  Heaven on earth is ours when we choose it.

Transformations - I assist transformations - both personal and global.  In my personal journey I'm being my best self, evolving my personal set of best practices, aspiring to be healthier, happier and more helpful each day.  I envision myself and all human cultures on planet Earth shifting from domination to partnership, from male over female, from one religion over others, from one nation state over others, from might-makes-right to kindness-makes-happy, from "I’ve-got-mine" to "we’re-helping-others." There is plenty for all if all are for plenty. Let's create heaven on earth.  ~ PQR 12-3-09

America’s Report Card – Let Healing Measures Begin

© Paul Q. Riederer, March, 2009

A Proposal to Expand How We Measure Success in America beyond Economic Indicators to include HEEALING – Health, Education, Environment, Agriculture, Labor, Infrastructure, Nature and Greening

Why We need an American Report Card.

This is a proposal for the Obama Administration to begin publishing an American Report Card.  Much like our children’s school report cards, America’s Report Card will tell all Americans how we are doing on the subjects we care the most about.  America’s Report Card will show how we are doing on the Economy, Jobs, Terrorism and National Defense.  But to bring the change our fellow citizens voted for, America’s Report Card will also need to cover HEEALING subjects -  Health, Education, Environment, Agriculture, Labor, Infrastructure, Getting Green - and much more........

"I believe the approach of the artist and the approach of the environmentalist    are fairly close in that both are, to a rather impressive degree, concerned with   the 'affirmation of life.'" --Ansel Adams

      • A Farm for the Future - permaculture farm film- 48 minutes

Wildlife film maker Rebecca Hosking lovingly investigates how to transform her family's farm in Devon into a low energy farm for the future…  both thoughtful and artful questioning about the future of farms and growing food crops on planet earth.  Gently illustrates the principles of transition and peak oil, local first, permaculture and forest gardening.

“More than 96 per cent of all the food grown in Britain is reliant on synthetic fertilizer, without which, we are told, there's not enough nutrients for the crops to grow, and without ploughing there is nothing to aerate the soil. So how can we manage without them?

The answers are in nature. As Charles Darwin pointed out, earthworms have been ploughing and aerating the soil for millions of years. And as for fertilisers, just look at how a forest flourishes: by using the natural fertility created by billions of living microbes, fungi, plants and animals.  The non-destructive, low-energy methods are elements of a wider system known as Permaculture, which challenges all the normal approaches to farming. One of its central principles is that you work with the land, rather than against it.”
