About the Fugie Open and Past Winners

The table to the left is reflective of the serious nature of the tournament! Several gaps appear in it mostly due to a form of alcohol-induced memory loss on the day. The inaugural event, in 1997, saw Matthew Evans take first place after a countback which denied Arnie the green jacket, setting the tone for what has become a wonderfully entertaining event.

You need to be aware of the importance of the Fugie Green Jacket. This (sometime) prized item is awarded to the cricketer who achieves the best score on the day. They then have the honour of looking after the jacket for the year - it is expected that the owner wears the jacket to all official Fugie events and also takes responsibility for the day-to-day care of the jacket (in most cases by storing it at the back of the wardrobe).
