The New Maryland Local Service District (NM LSD) is a component of Regional Service Commission 11 (RSC 11) with Regional services provided by RSC 11, including Regional property management and Regional waste disposal/recycling services. All other government services are provided to NM LSD by the Provincial Government as coordinated by the Department of Environment and Local Government Local Service Manager (DELG LSM).
The NM LSD Advisory Committee is a group of up to five residents elected by local residents and subsequently appointed by the Minister to represent the citizens of NM LSD. The NM LSD AC has no authority to act or make decisions on behalf of residents; rather it is appointed to provide advice to the Minister of Environment and Local Government on LSD matters, through the DELG LSM and RSC 11.
The Chair of the NMLSD AC is eligible to be appointed to the RSC 11 Board of Directors which includes all municipal mayors and up to six LSD Chairs. The Chair also sits on a Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) chaired by the DELG LSM, to provide consolidated advice to the RSC 11 Board of Directors on matters affecting all LSDs in the Region. The LSD is represented on the RSC 11 Community Policing Committee, a joint RSC 11/RCMP body intended to recommend Community Policing priorities and other advice to the RCMP chain of command and to the RSC 11 Board of Directors.
