University of Newcastle Fencing club



The University of Newcastle Fencing is focused on the Olympic sport of fencing

We are a friendly and active club. We welcome all new members whether social or competitive. 

The Club sends members to state and local competitions throughout the year. We also have semi-regular club social events. 

Coaches: 

   Mr Joe Caelli has been the head coach at the Club since 20013. He is an Australian Fencing Federation Level 1 Coach in Epee and has been fencing for 12 years

Details:

Location: We meet at the Studio No.2, the Forum, University of Newcastle, Callaghan Campus (see map at right)

Times: Training takes place from 7:45pm-9:45pm Wednesday nights


Equipment:   We provide the fencing-specific equipment you will need to train. You will need to wear sports shoes (indoor shoes such as indoor soccer shoes are great) and pants that come down to the knee but stop above the ankle. 


Costs: $30 per semester membership, $5 per class.

Newcastle University Fencing Club is a NuSport (Newcastle University Sport) club. 

Only members of NuSport can become members of the club. 

University students and staff are automatically ordinary members of NuSport. Others may become NuSport associate members for a small annual fee. 

Students are welcome to attend the first session free of charge.
