School Reports 2013

DIVISION "B" (Schools with a roll less than 125 students)

The Maude Crosse Preparatory School has, over the years at Inter-Primary, been a force to be reckoned with. We don’t have many athletes but the few that we do have make us proud. We continually attain a class champion or two, yearly. Last year we were able to send one child, Carlon Tuckett, from the school to represented Nevis in the CTU games in Jamaica. Carlon brought back only gold medal along with the Victor Ludorum.

We the teachers, parents and coaches at the school rally behind our athletes and always tell them we don’t have the roll as the bigger schools do but we have athletes who can challenge them in the sprint races which is one of our stronger area.
We are looking forward to compete this year and wish all the athletes best of luck for the 2013 Inter-Primary games.

May the best team be victorious.

The Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary School is the successor of the Combermere Primary School. The School is situated at Nisbett Estate. The doors of the new edifice were graciously opened on January 06th 2000. This opening was under the esteemed leadership of Ms. Earlene Maynard. Over the past years the school has participated in the Interprimary Championship meets and has been able to win the Zone B. Trophy in 2003. Brief Remarks
The Inter-Primary-Championship meet is considered as a mini-Olympics. Generally the hub and excitement triggered off in the island of Nevis is injected into the athletes, who generate much anticipation amongst the viewing and listening public. In all the excitement, the efforts of ALL schools are to be commended. Parents and coaches along with well wishers are on edge to see the outcome. We must not however loose the focus that the athletes are indeed children and that they must  be the main focus, let alone we leave our differences aside and encourage a healthy competition where no friends are lost.
To the athletes of the Violet O. Jeffers-Nicholls Primary School,I urge you enter the E.T.Willet Park with a positive attitude and a determined mind to do justice in ALL races and win. Claim the first place trophy in the B Zone. To the Parents, coaches and well wishers of the school, thanks much for your invaluable support. To our Sponsors, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club and Xpetrol profound thanks for your sterling contributions.Your time and efforts are appreciated. The Principal, staff and students along with the inter-primary team do anticipate success as we continue "Aspiring for the Best."

Brief Remarks by Principal

Congratulations to the Department of Education and the Nevis Amateur Athletic Association for their collaborative efforts in promoting and show-casing the athletic talents of our primary school students.

The Inter-Primary School Championship is currently the greatest sporting event in Nevis and is anticipated each year with heightened enthusiasm.  Though highly competitive, it is a time of great camaraderie among students, coaches, teachers, parents and indeed the entire populace of Nevis.

It is my sincere wish that each athlete who participates in this year’s Meet would consider himself or herself a true winner and be equally proud to represent his respective school at this propitious occasion. May good sportsmanship be exhibited as the teams battle for supremacy.

Special words of commendation and thanks are extended to the various sponsors who continue to support and make this Sports Meet possible.

Principal’s Message

The Inter Primary Championship signals the culmination of the months spent in arduous training and the grand finale to the sports meets of the individual Primary Schools on the island.  We all look forward to the display of a high standard of athleticism even while we wait with bated breath to witness the outcome of the individual events. The Joycelyn Liburd Primary school is proud to enter the competition to do battle in an attempt to regain its former glory. We have enjoyed the aura of capturing and retaining the winners’ trophy on more than one occasion. With God, all things are possible so we enter with that in mind. Yet we know that the outcome is inevitable. At the end of it all there can only be one, one champion and to the victor, the spoils. May this year’s competition be keenly and fairly contested and in the end may the best school attain the Inter Primary prize, the “crown jewel” of track in Nevis.
