Tanika Liburd and Meritzer Williams also competed in the event (results to be posted).
"well i'm just glad i was able to run a good time at the meet .. it was close to my personal best of 11.21 so that means i'm right where i need to be right now .. my goal is to run a 10.9 or 11.0 this year so it looks like it's going in that direction .. just was happy that i was able to finish injury free after suffering from a minor harmstring strain for the last couple weeks, plus some other health issues that kind of prevented me from training the way i should over the last couple weeks ... yesterday my coach told me just to use the race as training and try and execute and stay relaxed and thats what i did .. so i'm glad the result was good .. i'm looking forward for the national championships in st. kitts in two weeks .. it's always exciting to run at home in front of family and friends so i can't wait for that." Virgil's time of 11.24s would place her 33rd in the World rankings and 15th in the Caribbean area.

Guadeloupe Grand Prix Meet on Friday 1st May 2009
28/04/09 11:00 pm : This week coming back from the penn relays, my harmstring was feeling a lot better so i was able to practice at high level .. i did my 200m workouts which include some 150's and 250's and i was able to run them quite well .. i also did some 100m work preparation and i was able to even run my fastest 30 meters ever which was very good .. this showed that i'm ready to run against those other girls i'll be lined up with this weekend and that im going in the right direction .. so this weekend i'm excited to go to Guadeloupe and compete and see where i'm at at this moment ... The main thing is to make sure is that i don't run too fast too quickly and to make sure i peak at the right time which is the World Championships in August.
27/04/09 10:59 pm : Virgil Hodge: "Well for this meet this weekend, i'm really exciting to open up with the 200m for the outdoor season .. the last time i had planned to do ... it didnt go to well ... i had a little pain in my harmstring that prevented me from taking part in the 200m two weeks ago .. but it's feeling good after running the 4x100m at Penn Relays this past weekend and i can't wait to run to see where i'm at in the 200m. This weekend at the Grand Prix in Guadeloupe, i'll also have some good competition to push me through the 200m race so which means i dont have a choice but to run fast and open up with a good time .. based on my training i should be able to open up faster than 23 seconds so i'm praying everything goes well and that happens".

25/04/09 10:09 am : Virgil Hodge - Well we have a good potential of doing well .. once we go out there and execute and have good handoffs with the baton we should be able to run a Worlds qualifying mark today. I already have a lot of people here who seen us yesterday and said they were coming with they flags so we know we will have a lot of support, not only from the Kittitians & Nevisians in the crowd but the other Caribbean folks as well.

Quote: "Well i was glad that i able to open up my outdoor season on the track that i put all my hard work in every day .. that's the tcu track .. the race didn't quite go as well as how i wanted it too .. i had some back spasms after i warmed up and just before i raced and i decided i'll just go ahead and run .. but during the race ... like 10 meters before i finished i felt it cramp up and i just had to slow down .. but overall it was a good start ... i just wish i was able to finish stronger and at least open up with a faster time .. but i'll make sure i'll stay healthy and get ready for my other race this weekend at the Universiity of Texas Arlington where i'll be running the 100m and 200m."

"Well today i just wanted to go out there and run a good time .. the most important thing about running these meets is winning and that was my goal also .. my time was actually faster than i thought i would run, so that's exciting ... now i just look forward to competing again on friday in Germany where i'll be running the 60m and try make my time faster than what i ran before. I'm just glad that my time can place me in the top 10 in the World so far .. but that's not my main focus ... my main focus is outdoors .. indoors is just to get me race-ready for outdoors" 10th Feb 2009
GLASGOW, Scotland - St. Kitts’ latest sprinter to enter the professional circuit, Virgil Hodge, proved her merit to sponsor Adidas Saturday (Jan. 31) as she came from behind in the Women’s 200m to win gold at the Aviva International in Glasgow. "I was happy I was able to finish the race in the 200 last week because of what happened in the race .. coming off the first curve I got bumped with the USA athlete and I had to stop running .. which almost caused me to fall ... but nevertheless I continued my race and was able to finish 1st ... even though the time was not what I wanted .. I had no control over it because of the incident that took place in the race."
