Shirvon Greene wins Two Year
(Athlete of the Year Award)
2008 – 2009 Athlete of the Year @ Monroe College
Over 100 athletes, coaches and faculty were present on the 27th June, 2009 for the annual Athletic Award Ceremony for the Monroe College Athletic Season.
Wrapping up an outstanding season in the Cross Country, Indoor & Outdoor track 2009 while clocking not only school records but also recording Personal Best Times. Shirvon was Awarded the Two Year (Athlete of the Year Award)
Ranking in the Top 20 of the NJCAA in the following disciplines both indoors & outdoors:
With these performance Shirvon Greene was awarded the following award by the Monroe College Athletic Association leading up to his Current Athlete of the Year Award
He is also nominated by the NCAA, as a candidate for ALL- American which is an award for an athlete who excels not only in sports but academically as well.
It also must be noted that the Monroe College will be hoping by Fall 2009 to enter into the NCAA Division where much more will be a formidable task if Greene chooses to recommit once the School attains this Status.
First and foremost I would like to thank God without him none of this would have been possible. I would like to thank my family also who have been encouraging and supporting me from since I began my athletic career (Special thanks to my Grand mother. Mrs. Hyacinth - Thomas and my Mother Ms. Bonnie Carey, Aunt Ms. Clare Carey and Uncles Brian, Cynric and Heck Carey.)
