Run/Walk for Hope 2009

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FOR THE 3 MILE / 5 KM "RUN FOR HOPE"
 
ROAD RUN / WALK (updated 12/11/09)
  • 4:00 pm on Saturday 28th November 2009
  • Part of World Aids Day Activities
  • World Aids Day is celebrated on Tuesday 1st December 2009
  • Goal: - "To raise awareness and bring back into focus the HIV/AIDS situation"
  • All participants and officials will wear the designed T-shirts for the Run/Walk
  • The Inaugural event is proposed to be the start of an annual event

REGISTRATION (in Memorial Square on Wed 25th & 27th Nov (from 10 am - 2 pm)
  • Registration $35 - This includes provision of a Tshirts, Water, Visor cap and a snack (proposed)
  • Registration Forms are available online and at the locations below. REGISTRATION FORM !
  • Registration will be at the HIV/Aids Office at Spencer Howell building opposite Charlestown Police station, Charlestown & Gingerland Public Libraries & Ministry of Health at Admin building, Health Centres around the island, Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (NAAA) Officers
THE EVENT:
  • The Run/Walk will start 4:00 pm at the Cotton Ground junction
  • Runners/Walkers already registered should arrive at the Start by 3:30 pm
  • Non-registered Runners/Walkers should arrive at the Start line by 3:00 pm
  • The round-about enclosure at the Cotton Ground junction will be used by the Run/Walk organisers at the start
ROUTE:
  • Cotton Ground to Memorial Square, Charlestown
  • 3 Miles /6 Kilometers, relatively flat course
  • Course map provided  See Run/Walk Route
AWARDS
  • Categories: Under - 17 & Over 17
  • Cash Awards: Over 17: Male & Female:   1st - $500.00    2nd - $200.00
  • Cash Awards: Under 17: Male & Female: 1st - $300.00    2nd - $100.00
  • Certificates for all who participate (Run/Walk)

  4. Memorial Square (Finish)
FINISH LINE
  • HIV/Aids Awareness & Information will be provided throughout the day at the Memorial Square
  • A snack will be provided to all participants and officials (proposed)
  • Awards ceremony to include brief remarks by the representatives from the Ministry of Health and the HIV/Aids Unit
  • Music and various announcements will also be provided to the General Public
OTHER:
A "LIVE" Video feed will be provided on the Nevis Amateur Athletic Association website on www.nevisaaa.com
