Nevis 10K Run Information

  1. 10K Run scheduled for Friday 16th September 2005 National Heroes Day – a National Holiday
  2. To be an annual event eventually becoming a marathon, with a half marathon as an intermediate distance
  3. Start time: 4:00 pm

Registration (free)

The Registration Form will be posted here shortly. Information required is

  1. Name
  2. Country
  3. Sex
  4. Date of birth
  5. T-shirt size (XXL / XL / L)

Incentives

  1. Cash (All 3 places per class and overall male and female winners)
    • 1st overall (male & female) EC $1,000
    • 1st place each class - EC $500
    • 2nd place each class - EC $300
    • 3rd place each class - EC $100
  2. Trophies (1st) plus perpetual trophy with inscribed names and replica for overall male and female winner.

Route and other information

  1. Start: near the lead-in lights West of the Vance W. Amory International Airport runway, Newcastle (a registration/staging area will be setup with tents, water, numbers distribution etc.)
  2. Route: following the Island Main Road to Charlestown passing Cades Bay, Cotton Ground, Jessups
  3. Finish: opposite Tourism Authority, Main Street, Charlestown
  4. Water stations at approx. every mile (namely: Oualie Beach Hotel, Westbury junction (near the bus stop), Cotton Ground junction, Jessups junction & TDC)
  5. Traffic restrictions will be applied to selected roads in Charlestown
  6. Police outriders will escort the lead male and female runners
  7. Kilometer markings every kilometre
  8. Transportation will be arranged from Charlestown (at the Sports Museum) to the starting point at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The M.V. Caribe Queen will leave St. Kitts at 1:00 p.m. and leave Nevis at 8:00 p.m. (after the Presentation ceremony)
  9. Presentation ceremony will be at the Charlestown Bayfront near the gazebos on the southern side at approx. 6 p.m.
