Mt. Irvine,Tobago: Mark London( Bishops High School) won the second leg of the 2009 NAAA cross country series in Mt. Irvine Tobago on Sunday (15th November). In the three lap race for Boys over 15, London, the bronze medallist in the Boys under 17 3000m at the Carifta Games in St. Lucia, earlier this year, took an early lead. He shook off the second place Jimeel Cunningham (Mason Hall Secondary) after the second lap to win in 24 minutes 35 seconds. Cunningham clocked 26:14. In third place was Jem Gordon (Bishops High) 26:35.
Anike Taylor(Scarborough Sec) won the two lap race for females over 15 in 19:02 ahead of schoolmates Shianne Thomas, 19:27 and Crystian Roberts 21:16.
In the under 15 one lap race, Stefan Rovello (Bishops High) was first among the boys in 7:36 ahead of Nicholas Landeau (Belmont Boys) who clocked 7:58. Landeau won the first leg (7th November) in Chaguaramas, Trinidad but did not have time to warm up as he only arrive for the race minutes before the start. In third place was Javon Joseph(Belmont Boys) in 8:02. In the girls’ race Antonia Paul (St. Andrews Anglican Primary) was the winner in 8:53 ahead of her twin sister Amanda 10:08. Faye Walters(Bishops High) finished third in 10:34 ahead of her twin sister Farida, 10:36.
The Trinidad and Tobago Cross Country Championship is carded for Sunday 22nd November at the Sevilla Golf Course in Couva Trinidad.
2010 NACAC Cross Country Championships will be staged at Mt. Irvine on March 10.
