Melville Rogers competed in the Adidas Outdoor Championships (AOC) on June 13-14, at North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC. "Mello" was slated to compete the 400 metres but did not start the event for reasons unknown.  He teamed with his Transit Tech-NY teammates in the 4x400m, placing 3rd in Heat 2 and 10th overall in 3:17.23.  In the 4x200m relay, Transit Tech placed 1st in Heat 2 and 9th overall in 1:28.42.

In the 800m medley relay, Transit Tech placed 3rd in Heat 2 and 3rd overall in 1:30.00, breaking the meet record of 1:31.67 set in 2002 and just missing the National record of 1:29.68 set on 26/03/2003.  Glenville-OH 'A team' ran 1:28.95 to claim the gold and the new National record.   

The AOC has become the biggest post-season meet, after 13 years, with the most entries and the most events. The meet is billed as the "the nation's premier high school outdoor event

Melville Rogers placed second behind Elzie Coleman at the New York State Meet held in Birminghan, New York on June 6/7, 2003.  Rogers ran 46.76s followed by 47.04s in the Division I and Championship 400m events respectively.  His team also placed second in the 4x400m in 3:17.39.

Melville Rogers continued his domination of the 400 meters, at the Public School Athletic League Championship, held at St. John's University in Jamaica, New York.   He won the 400 meter in 47.83s after qualifying for the finals with a 47.71s, the best heat time.

BOYS Sprint Medley Relay

Transit Tech NY ran the 2nd fastest SMR in history, finishing in 3:25.51(Micah Nation 22.2, Garrie Edwards 21.7, Melville Rogers 47.8, Michael Webley 1:53.8) over Deep Creek VA 3:25.74 #3 all-time. Deep Creek had the lead for the first 2 legs, but Rogers opened a 2-second lead and Webley cruised to a win in a spectacular time. Mumford MI finished 3rd in 3:26.62.

Boys 2002-2003 NY State Indoor Championships 

Melville Rogers wins gold at the New York State Indoor Championships, in the 300m with a time of 34.73s. The meet was held at the Carrier Dome, Syracuse University on March 8, 2003.

PSAL Championships

Melville Rogers was judged the Outstanding Male Track Performer at the New York City PSAL Championships.  Rogers ran for the East New York Transit Tech team at the New York Armory meet. In the preliminaries, Rogers ran the 300m Varsity class, in 34.40s, and returned a time of 34.36s in the Finals.
