The Nevisian athletes dressed smartly in blue athletic wear certainly came out to astonish, as they dominated nearly every single event last Saturday.
“We had been training very hard, so we were looking forward to a very competitive meet, and we certainly got what we were looking for,” Wakely said. “The Gladiators Sport Club has been training since September of last year, so we expected our performance to be good, and our expectations were met.”

HBC Indoor Vlaanderen Gent, in Brussels: "first of all i just want to thank God for giving me the strength to be able to compete at another meet .. the 60m was a great race . i had a slow heat and after getting out the blocks and realized i had third .. i just stayed there knowing i'll get into the finals .. i had 50 mins or less for the 60m finals so i just got a massage and then did some short sprints, like 15mins before i got back on the track .. then i got out the blocks well and just try to maintain that speed and i finish 5th place, which was ok, because i started out the fastest i ever started the 60m in with a time of 7.37s ......... then the 200 was 10 mins after the 60 finals so i was still tired, so all i had time to do is set my blocks again and wait for the starter .. when i got out i still felt tired so i just try and stay strong and finish the race with all i had left, and ended up 3rd (23.84s) .. but it was a good race .. i felt ok and now i'll look forward for my next race in France on tuesday"

Virgil Hodge wins first professional meet - 02 Feb

GLASGOW, Scotland - St. Kitts’ latest sprinter to enter the professional circuit, Virgil Hodge, proved her merit to sponsor Adidas Saturday (Jan. 31) as she came from behind in the Women’s 200m to win gold at the Aviva International in Glasgow. "I was happy I was able to finish the race in the 200 last week because of what happened in the race .. coming off the first curve I got bumped with the USA athlete and I had to stop running .. which almost caused me to fall ... but nevertheless I continued my race and was able to finish 1st ... even though the time was not what I wanted .. I had no control over it because of the incident that took place in the race." RESULTS Her next event (60m & 200m) is at the HBC Indoor Vlaanderen Gent, in Brussels on Sunday 8th February. "This weekend i'm just exciting to be able to compete in the 60m and see where i'm at in that and i'll be running the 200m again and hopefully everything goes well this time and i'll be able to open up with a pretty good time. I have 2 more meets indoor after sunday so i'm just going to go out and do my best and get ready for outdoors, which is my main focus, especially as the World Championships is in August."
