Photographer Elaine Poggi will talk to us about her non-profit, The Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals

The publicly-supported Foundation was incorporated in the USA in 2002 by Elaine, who turned the personal tragedy of the loss of her mother into a worldwide campaign to bring photographs of nature to hospitals around the world. While visiting her mother in the hospital, Elaine noted all the bare walls and decided to do something about them.

"We tend to associate hospitals with sadness but Elain's photos change this perception. Her colorful images offer a window of color, memory and discovery, which is integral to any healing process."

"Our vision is to create a shift in the way people view hospitals, from cold and sterile to warm and welcoming. We wish to change hospitals by humanizing their environments, a concept that is slowly gaining influence in many countries."

The Foundation's works are now in hospitals ranging from Italy to Africa, Venezuela, the USA, India, Poland and Japan. Read more at healingphotoart.com
