NEOMFA and UA Press Authors at the Hudson Library April 9th

Jen Hirt, author of Under Glass: The Girl with a Thousand Christmas Trees, Joyce Dyer, author of Goosetown: Reconstructing an Akron Neighborhood, and Eric Wasserman, author of The Temporary Life, will be discussing and signing copies of their books on Saturday April 9 from 11am to 1pm at the Hudson Library.

2011 Bisbee Arizona Summer Travel & Study Fellowships

Through the generosity of Robert and Walter Wick and the Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University, the NEOMFA program will offer a special multi-genre workshop course for three hours credit from late July through early August, 2011.  The workshop will be led by Professor Maggie Anderson (KSU) and will be open to NEOMFA students from any of the four campuses who have completed two semesters of course work in the NEOMFA program .

2011 APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 21st 2011

Dates for the 2011 Bisbee Workshop are:

WEEK 1: July 25-July 29 (at KSU)

WEEK 2: July 31-August 7 (in Bisbee, AZ)

WEEK 3: August 8-August 15 (at KSU)

NEOMFA Playwrights Festival

Coming to Cleveland Public Theater: The NEOMFA Playwrights Festival! Three weekends in March featuring the 
work of NEOMFA playwrights Tom Hayes, Michael Parsons, and Jennifer Willoh.
  • Patterns written by Tom Hayes,  Directed by Brian Zoldessy, March 11, 12, 13
  • Fire Dance written by Michael Parsons, Directed by Jeremy Paul, March 18, 19, 20
  • The Pole written by Jennifer A. Willoh, Directed by Nina Domingue, March 25, 26, 27

The following CSU classes for Spring 2011 are full:
  • English 610, MFA Fiction Workshop, with Imad Rahman
  • English 616, MFA Literature, with Joshua Tyree
Check the Class Schedules pages and check with your Campus Coordinator for other Spring 2011 courses that are still available. 

Registration open for Spring 2011 Classes

If you are Cross-registering at a different gateway than your own, be sure to contact the Campus Coordinator and the instructor to let them know your form is in process so a space can be saved (enrollment lowered) for you!

Some classes have already filled: 
KSU: African-American Lit. (M'baye) and Shakespeare (Dugas) are full. 
UA: New American Novel (Pope) is full. 

There are openings in the Poetry Craft & Theory with Catherine Wing and the Fiction Workshop with Varley O'Connor, both at KSU. If you are planning to enroll in these let Craig Paulenich know as soon as possible. 

Fall Graduate Reading

The Graduate Reading will be held December 10th, 2010, from 4-6 pm at  the Kilcawley Center, Youngstown State University. 

NEOMFA Graduate Reading - August 2010

Join us in celebration of our  summer graduates and listen to them read from their theses on August 13th, at 4:00 pm at the Hower House, 60 Fir Hill St., Akron, Ohio. Free parking is available across the street in the Martin Center lot. Refreshments will be served, all NEOMFA students and faculty, and their families are welcome. Please RSVP to neomfa@kent.edu by August 1st.
