The Northern Ohio Freethought Society (NOFS), became a nationally recognized chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) on February 21, 2013.

If you're not currently a member of NOFS, we invite you to attend one of our meetings or meetup events, and you can register HEREAnd of course, feel free to reach out and call or email one of our voluntary board members. We'd love to welcome you to our fun, engaging chapter!

NOFS has been named as one of the  plaintiffs in a recent case to remove "In God We Trust" from our currency.

Sacramento attorney Michael Newdow filed the lawsuit Monday in Akron. The lawsuit argues the phrase “In God We Trust” on U.S. money is unconstitutional and violates the principle of separation of church and state. The lawsuit wants the phrase prohibited from use on all U.S. currency.

We are dedicated to preserving the constitutional principle of separation of church and state and educating the public on matters relating to nontheism.

"An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An atheist believes that deed must be done instead of prayer said. An atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanished, war eliminated."
