The Northeast Iowa Genealogical Society was organized in 1970:

  • To create and foster an interest in genealogy.
  • To preserve genealogical and historical data, particularly of our ancestors and the pioneers of Black Hawk County, Iowa
  • To instruct and educate person interested in genealogy

Meetings are held at various locations in Blackhawk County on the third Tuesday of the month.  There are no meetings in July, August, and December.  Dues are $15.00 for an individual and $25.00 for a family membership. Members receive free admission to the Grout Museum and Library by showing their membership card at the door.

A newsletter, "Cedar Tree Branches", is published quarterly for members and other genealogy societies who exchange newsletters.

Queries concerning Black Hawk County data are welcomed.
