Light Refreshments

Escaping the disastrous consequences of the initial U.S. response to 9/11, with its reliance on unilateralism and military force, will require the successful implementation of new U.S. policies on Iraq, Iran, Israel-Palestine, and Afghanistan.  On the record to date, the Obama administration and Congress look like they are both part of the solution and part of the problem for an essential reset of post- 9/11 U.S. policies.  Rep. Howard Berman and other members of Congress will play an important role in pushing the administration in either a constructive or destructive direction.  Come for a discussion about encouraging your members of Congress (Berman and others) to reset the U.S. response to 9/11 and establish peace in the greater Middle East.

 CHILDREN OF WAR
A film by Bryan Single and Tim Beckett

Q&A after the screening.

Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City
12355 Moorpark St., Studio City CA 91604

Set in the East African country of Uganda, CHILDREN OF WAR is a moving film about the emotional and psychological consequences of violence on children who have been transformed into weapons of war and their struggle towards rehabilitation and reconciliation. The film is visually beautiful and inspiring in its message.

Dahr Jamail has been a guest speaker at two NPJ forums.  The Unembedded Truth was held in February of 2007, with Sonali Kolhatkar from KPFK introducing Dahr.  Shae Popovich was the MC.

Dahr returned in November of 2007, this time with Jeremy Scahill.  Shae shared MC duties with Elke Heitmeyer.  Here are some photos from that event:

Our first community forum was in September of 2003.  It was to alert the public to the endless war policy of the Bush administration when they proposed the first "supplemental funding request" to continue military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Since then, we have hosted many forums, nearly twenty.  We continue to put on forums.  Last month we did two!  Peace Jamorama for Agustin Aguayo and Occupation 101 with Anna Balzar.

In the center column you will find links to individual forum pages, and a scrolling photo highlights of some of our forums down through the years.
