About Us

The Gesneriad Society, New England Chapter was established in 1961.  We seek to gather together people interested in cultivating these marvelous plants. The chapter meets monthly for a business meeting and program on some aspect of gesneriads.

Bells and Slippers is our newsletter. We have an annual picnic in June, an annual show in September, and a holiday party in December. We frequently participate in Massachusetts Horticultural Society events and activities of The Gesneriad Society nationally. Unless we are sponsoring another large activity, we usually meet on the first Sunday of the month. We do not hold meetings during the summer.

The chapter is part of the The Gesneriad Society, an international association of people who enjoy plants of the family Gesneriaceae.
