Menus and Reservations

We introduced our new Head Chef Cher Rainbolt in mid-November and have enjoyed many fine meals she has cooked for us!

Thank you, Cathie David, for having cooked for us on Mondays - we enjoyed your meals! Best wishes with your expanded new position elsewhere!

And a shout-out to Front-of-House Manager Chastity Lamb - thank you!

We are always seeking volunteer or paid assistant cooks and dishwashersfor our Mountain MidLife meals and are open to hearing from everyone interested.

Join us for a fresh, tasty, "home-cooked" meal!  The company alone is worth attending to enjoy - add a delicious, nutritious meal and we are sure you'll be back for more!

Reservations
We serve Lunch at noon on Monday and Wednesday year-round at the Nederland Community Center Multipurpose Room, located at 750 Hwy 72, 1/2 mile north of the traffic circle (intersection of Highways 119 and 72) in Nederland. We rarely cancel a lunch, except on Memorial Day Monday, Labor Day Monday, July 4th, Christmas or New Years Eves or Days - or on a severe weather day.  If we have to cancel for weather or disasters, we will try to call everyone who has signed up in advance.

We serve Breakfast on Second Saturdays of most odd numbered months and Brunch on Second Sundays of most even numbered months (check our Mountain MidLife page on this site for updates) and Dinner on most Fourth Fridays (until fourth quarter, when holidays push us back to Third Fridays).

Call 303-258-0799 for reservations by Friday at 4pm for Lunch on Monday and by Monday at 4pm for Lunch on Wednesday and a week in advance (if possible) for Breakfasts and Dinners. Calling a week ahead for the Mountain Peak Life meals is helpful for our food purchasing, as it is tough for us to predict numbers for these events. We also offer signup for these dinners and breakfasts/brunches on our site at www.Meetups.com/Mountain-MidLife-Social-Group

If you are a first-timer and you haven't made a reservation, please swing by anyway - we typically have enough to accommodate a drop-in visitor!

Invite a friend to a meal (lunches every Monday and Wednesday or monthly dinners or breakfasts/brunches) and offer to pick them up and drop them home afterwards. With a “requested contribution” of $5 over age 60, we offer a fun and affordable get-together with friends. We need and appreciate your anonymous meal contributions, but please ensure people know that we welcome anyone over age 60 regardless of ability to pay.

Contributions

LUNCH:  We request a contribution of $5 per Lunch from adults age 60 and over and require $8.25 per meal from guests under age 60.

BREAKFAST/BRUNCH:  We request a contribution of $5 per Breakfast from adults age 60 and over and require $9 per meal from guests under age 60.

DINNER:  We request a contribution of $5 per Dinner from adults age 60 and over and require $10 per meal from guests under age 60.

This request is made of those attending meals served on site and those receiving home delivered meals.
No one over the age of 60 is turned away for inability to pay and your anonymous contributions are not tracked.

Guests under age 60 are required by our federal/state grant program to pay the above-mentioned Guest Fee.

The total cost of the meal is $14.64 for lunches and $15.13 per person for other meals.

Nederland Area Seniors covers the difference required as a local cash match thanks to our donors and other sources.

Home Delivery

Seniors over the age of 60 who are unable to leave their homes unassisted may qualify for our home delivered meals, delivered Mondays and Wednesdays around 1:00pm.  (We do not offer home delivery of our Breakfasts/Brunches and Dinners at this time.)

Our volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals twice a week.  Frozen meals may be available to those in need and we encourage you to contact us for meal deliveries following hospitalization, during rehabilitation or serious illness.

Please contact Serene Karplus, Nederland Area Seniors Director at 303-258-0799, NederlandAreaSeniors@gmail.com
OR

Colleen Sinclair, Boulder County Area Agency on Aging's Mountain Options Counselor at 303-258-3068 , csinclair@bouldercounty.org to register for this program.

Nutrition Counseling

Our local Boulder County Area Agency on Aging offers free one-on-one Nutrition Counseling to adults over age 60. Please call 303-441-4710 to make an appointment with Patricia Murphy, Registered Dietitian. Patti presents nutrition information regularly (every few months) at our lunches and may be able to piggyback a private session for you in Nederland during one of her visits here. Otherwise, she can meet you at her office at Broadway and Iris in Boulder.

NEED A RIDE TO LUNCH OR OTHER ERRANDS?

Did you know that Via transportation service is for any person over the age of 18 in the mountains? Contrary to popular belief, it is NOT a service designed just for the elderly and disabled – it’s for everyone up here! Their new service works Monday through Friday 8am - 4pm, thanks to a contract with ZTrip to provide mountain services 5 days a week. Mostly serving within a few miles of downtown Nederland, they’ve added Rollinsville and Boulder. Local trips (including Rollinsville) are only $3 per ride (home to bank to grocery to home is 3 rides) and $9 each way to Boulder – with a 50% discount on those fares for low income riders (must reapply to continue previously approved discount after 5/31/18). This is “door-through-door” service, so much more convenient than figuring out how to get to the RTD stop and various errand locations down below. Please help us spread the word quickly, as the 6-month trial period is ticking during which they determine if we need and use this service, so let’s keep this expanded service up here by ensuring everyone we know who might use it knows about it. Register in advance with Via at 303-444-3043 or contact mobilityspecialist@viacolorado.org, then call to schedule trips at least a day ahead (wheelchair needs 48 hours notice) at 303-447-9636.

Surveys

We survey regularly to determine the impact of the senior nutrition program on participants.  Please watch for our upcoming survey monkey for our 2018 fall survey. Will post a link here when it is available (September, 2018).

Results from past surveys appear as attachments below.
