I am a graduate student in the Igic Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My main area of interest is evolutionary biology looking at the diversification of birds. Within this field I am interested in looking at the extent to which different species are specialized with respect to their ecology and the effect that this has on the rates of speciation and extinction. I am also interested in questions such as can speciation be inhibited, leading to clades of birds with fewer than an expected number of species assuming a random distribution.
