Message from FAIMER
Welcome from FAIMER!
SEARAME NCHPE 2012 will host speakers and workshop leaders from across the region, plus others from the other side of the world and FAIMER is proud to be part of this conference. This is an important milestone for NCHPE – after meeting every other year for the past six years, it is now an annual event!
Through this conference, we hope to engage educators and their colleges from across Southeast Asia in a discussion about the relationship between higher education institutions and society. SEARAME NCHPE 2012 is structured around the four themes of social accountability – equity, relevance, quality, and cost effectiveness. Focus on these themes reminds us that the catch phrase, “social accountability,” has real meaning for change in health professions education.
In addition to connecting with our colleagues in Southeast Asia, FAIMER is broadening its reach in many ways. We have launched our FAIMER Education Center initiative to connect colleges that want to strengthen their faculty development programs through long term consultation with international experts at FAIMER and its Regional Institutes. To broaden our reach beyond our FAIMER Fellows, Facebook FAIMER Community was started this year at www.facebook.com/FAIMER.Community . Finally, we will continue to have a strong presence at the annual meeting of The Network: Towards Unity for Health, with keynotes and workshops in Ontario in October. The next Network:TUFH annual meeting will be in Bangkok and I expect to see a large number of SEARAME NCHPE 2012 participants there.
So, don’t sit back, and don’t relax. Join the discussions during the poster sessions and following keynotes and panel presentations, and consider how concepts of equity, relevance, quality, and cost effectiveness can be applied at your college.
