Hands - on Learning, Discussion, and Demos
on a variety of topics including
Digital Photography
Embedded computer programming
and more
We have one SIG meeting per month. The SIG was originally focused on digital image manipulation. Because of the wide ranging interests of the members of the SIG, they decided to split the time slot between digital imaging, embedded computing, and other topics.
For info on the next meeting, contact Al Gudenas linrik@adelphia.net
Meetings held on the third Saturday of the month at various locations or on-line.
Meetings start at 10:00 am
Digital Imaging
In an informal atmosphere where the club members are encouraged to bring their own computers so that they and follow along so that the learning process is reinforced, we will discuss questions about Digital Photography & Movies.
Learning the gimp
One of the main efforts of the SIG has been an effort to learn to use the gimp.image editor.
Our approach to do this, consists of (but not limited to) two activities:
Embedded Computer Projects
Explore the world of embedded computing using small, inexpensive computers like the Arduino computers (what's an Arduino) and may include others like the Raspberry-Pi and BeagleBoard.
Projects combine hardware combinations and software design and coding.
Members have completed an Arduino based GPS tracker project based on this one, based on boards from the local Tiny Circuits manufacturer; and a variety of Home Automation IoT projects.
