I am interested in research and development of computer vision systems. I am passionate about designing systems which work while taking into account practical constraints. I am probably best known for "Histogram of Oriented Gradient" features, a joint work with Bill Triggs and published in CVPR 2005.
I am founder of Flutter, a startup based on computer vision technologies. Prior to that, I was senior researcher at Like.com, a visual search engine for online shopping. Before this I completed my PhD thesis at INRIA Grenoble, project LEAR. The topic of my PhD thesis was "Finding People in Images and Video Sequences". I was coadvised by Bill Triggs and Cordelia Schmid.
I grew up in Chandigarh, India, have lived in Grenoble, France, and am currently putting up in San Francisco bay area. In my spare time I love to bike, hike, travel and ski.
