A cornerstone of the healthcare reform legislation that was passed in March of 2010 was the creation of state passed health insurance exchanges.  An exchange is a new marketplace in which individuals, families, and businesses can shop for health insurance.  The exchange will offer simplicity and clarity in an otherwise confusing and daunting market.   There are several benefits that the exchange can offer individuals, families, and businesses who choose to purchase their policies through them.  These benefits include among others:
  • Tax subsidies for individuals and families purchasing private insurance.
  • Tax Credits for small businesses sponsoring their employees health insurance.
  • A streamlined application process.
  • A one stop shop for consumers to choose which benefit level and carrier works best for them.
These exchanges were formed with a guiding principle of making purchasing insurance a more “user-friendly” and transparent experience.  A lot can and is being done to help consumers learn all of there options in a way that makes sense.  Regardless of this, the fact remains that this decision is one of the most important and expensive they will make.

Allow me to assist you as your agent.  I will guide you through these exchanges and make recommendations based on your personal situation.  Let’s take a look.
