2017-2018 LD Resolution Announced

The winning 2017-2018 NFA-LD Resolution is:

Resolved: the United States federal government should substantially increase the regulation of state and/or local police misconduct in the United States.

There were a total of 41 schools voting in this year's balloting--an excellent turn out and close race.  Thank you to all of the schools who participated in the process.   The full results are listed below:

1st place with 133 points:   C.  Resolved:  the United States federal government should substantially increase the regulation of state and/or local police misconduct in the United States.

2nd place with 131 points:   A.  Resolved: the United States federal government should adopt a policy to substantially improve prison conditions in the United States

3rd place with 126 points:   E.  Resolved: the United States federal government should substantially strengthen the 5th and/or 6th  amendment protections of criminal defendants in the United States.

4th place with 116 points:  B.   Resolved: the Supreme Court of the United States should substantially expand the constitutional protections of criminal defendants in one or more of the following areas: self-incrimination, right to counsel, and/or criminal jury selection.

5th place with 109 points:  D.  Resolved: the United States federal government should substantially restrict one or more of the following: the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
