Nighthawks defeat Tewksbury

posted May 17, 2011, 12:34 PM by Scott Olivieri

Coming off a big win at Westford, the Nighthawks did not match the intensity of their previous effort, but as Coach MacDonald stated, "Good teams find a way to win." Suddenly averse to the bounce pass the Nighthawks committed an astounding 27 turnovers. Jarrett Wilson was the lone Nighthawk to play turnover-free basketball. Dylan Gamache again infused life into the team with 4 rebounds and hustle and 3 points. Patrick Sullivan, Brint MacDonald and Casey Fisher combined for 6 steals. Shane LeGraw led the team with 13 rebounds, while Ryan Penkala added 5 rebounds and 6 points. Collin Morrow (3pts), Garett Bozek (2pts) were also solid contributors. Chad Olivieri had 7 blocks and got into foul trouble in the second half, but added 24 points and 8 rebounds. Down by 2 with 9 seconds remaining in the game, the Hawks inbounded the ball and went the length of the floor before Olivieri hit a bank shot in traffic to tie the game as time expired. In overtime the Nighthawks took over, fueled by 2 hoops, 4 free throws and a steal by LeGraw and Ben Seegel's 3-4 free throw shooting.
