Multiwavelength Astronomy Program Website

Thank you for your interest in our program!  We have recruited our Chicago Public Schools earth/space, astronomy, and physics teachers and students to participate in a peer-led professional development workshop on Multiwavelength Astronomy to be held at The University of Chicago on weekdays from July 15-31, 10:00 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

The purpose of this program is to introduce teachers to a suite of resources on the science, history, tools, and impact of astronomy across the spectrum (from gamma ray to optical); and to support them as they develop an implementation plan for using one or more lessons in their classroom.  The workshop will provide peer-led, in-depth content learning, in addition to skill development for using NASA mission data with students.

At the end of the workshop, each teacher will present their lesson/implementation plan to the participants.  Five of these plans will be selected to be produced as professional development videos that will be available in Safari/Montage.

Teachers who attend the workshop have selected students to join them. Students will participate on all days of the workshop, but will join the teacher group mid-day. Information for students is appended at the end of this application form.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will receive an iPad mini.
