Naoki Aizawa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on the design of social insurance systems, with a particular emphasis on equilibrium labor market interactions and market design and regulation of insurance markets. His work has appeared in leading economics journals, including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Review of Economic Studies. He received the 2021 Best Paper Award from the Econometric Society for the best paper published in Quantitative Economics over the preceding two years.
Professor Aizawa received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and previously served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Minnesota. He has taught Ph.D. courses in public economics, labor economics, health economics, and applied econometrics.
