Thrifty Foods Smile Card

We have an easy fundraising opportunity in place. We have joined the Thrifty Foods Smile Card Program. When you shop at Thrifty foods, simply load up the smile card (that you obtain from the Rowing Club) at Customer Service or at the till BEFORE you ring through your groceries. Then purchase your groceries and pay with your loaded Smile Card.  Thrifty Foods will donate 5% of anything you spend to the "Nanaimo Rowing Club Purchase a new boat fund"!

EASY Steps

1.  Email the club at nanaimo.rowing@gmail.com and we will make arrangements to get you a card.  If you have friends or family that would like to help support us as well, please take additional cards!!  We will record the number in case of lost or misplaced cards.

2.  Either go to customer service or to the till and give the cashier your Thrifty Foods Fundraising Smile Card FIRST (the one we gave you) and ask them to load up the card with as much money as you would like (as little as one shop, or multiple shops too!).

3.  Pick out lots of good food for your family and pay with your pre-loaded Smile Card.

4.  Take food home and enjoy!!

5.  Repeat next grocery trip.

The most important thing is to get the card loaded BEFORE they ring in your food!  This is a great easy fundraiser that requires us only to shop at Thrifty Foods!  We can obtain as much as $2500 dollars per year for this!!!

Bottle drive, the easy way. Nanaimo Rowing Club has an account set up at the bottle recycling depot on Mostar Road. Just take your empties in and let them know you want to donate to the rowing club.

Thanks to all our donors - our new Wintech quad arrived on November 16, 2011.

Nanaimo Rowing Club – Equipment Acquisition Drive
Donations of $20 and up qualify

As anyone that has been around the sport of rowing for even a short time knows, rowing is a very equipment intensive sport. At NRC we have always tried to keep our fees low to include as many rowers as possible and as a result some of our equipment purchases have been delayed.

One of our goals is to update our fleet and over the next several years we are seeking funds to acquire additional equipment for our athletes. We have a project set up, P202 - Nanaimo Rowing Club – Equipment Acquisition Drive, through the National Sport Trust Fund, BC Chapter. Donations may be made to our project and the National Sport Trust Fund provides tax receipts for qualifying donations of $20 or more. We have produced a brochure outlining the project (attached below), as well as a blank donation form.  Both are available below.

Donations may also be made online at  http://sportbc.com/services/national-sport-trust-fund/donors/ .  Press the Online Donation button, select Rowing and locate our project.

Thank you for considering our cause.
