Biography


Nadia Kalman is a 2012-2013 Literature Fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Cosmopolitans, her first novel, draws upon her family’s experiences as Soviet immigrants in suburban Connecticut. It won the Emerging Writer Award from Moment magazine and was a finalist for the Rohr Prize in Jewish Literature. 

An excerpt from Nadia’s novel-in-progress, The Skeptical Alchemist, was published in PEN America this fall.

Nadia recently created a video about writing fictional dialogue for TED-Ed; it can be found on YouTube and on the TED-Ed website.
