I'm a Brazilian Engineer, who recently moved back to the homeland after living and working 11 years in Europe.

I'm currently working as a research scientist in the project "Advanced Processing of Multispectral and Hyperspectral Images for Monitoring Natural Disasters and Forest Degradation In Brazil", funded by the Young Talent Attraction Program (Science Without Borders – CNPq), hosted by the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre.

I have a solid experience in research and development of image analysis and pattern recognition methods for automatic and semi-automatic information extraction from remote sensing imagery collected by airborne and spaceborne sensors. Recently, I applied these methods for monitoring of tropical forests,  monitoring of natural disasters such as floods and landslides for emergency management activities, identification of marine oil spills and look-alikes, and detection of cultural heritage.

Besides, I'm devoting spare time to the development of a computer-aided diagnosis tool (CAD) for the diagnosis of melanoma using dermoscopy. The tool is aimed at helping general practitioners (GPs) in Norway.
