Alert: Brookhaven Character Area Study Meetings August 30 and August 31

The City of Brookhaven Character Area Study is proceeding and it is critically important that Pine Hills has a large turn-out at the next set of meetings scheduled for late August. At these meetings, we will be asked to outline the vision, goals and needs for our neighborhood and planners will use this information to define development goals and zoning for defined areas within the City of Brookhaven.  Pine Hills is within the Roxboro Character Area and directly impacted by the Buford Highway Character Area.  We need to attend both meetings to insure that our voices are heard. The meetings are open (even if the website states that registration is closed) and both City of Brookhaven and City of Atlanta residents are welcome.

The ‘Roxboro’ Character Area is considered an established neighborhood with goals to preserve and protect.  We need to make sure that we express what that means to us.  The Buford Highway Corridor Character Area is designated as a dense and walkable urban corridor.  Many interesting ideas are being raised that include connectivity, cultural and arts centers, greenspace, housing mix, accessibility, parks, and aging in place. This is our opportunity to express our goals and to state how we would like the plan to address traffic, infrastructure, buffers, housing, and impact.

Members of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association Zoning Committee attended the first set of meetings.  Read the summary on our website ( in the zoning section,  We will continue to keep you informed.
