  • Neighborhood Security -- Open Meeting Please join the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association on Wednesday, December 13th from 7:00-8:00 pm at the Latin American Association for a discussion of neighborhood security. This meeting is open to all neighbors. PHNA has been working since January on a security plan that addresses crime patterns and vulnerabilities in our neighborhood. The plan has several components including surveillance cameras that would supplement the license plate readers Brookhaven and City of Atlanta maintain, increased off-duty police patrol, neighborhood watch, improved signage, and others.  We have collaborated with police departments in both cities as well as Georgia Power to develop our plan.  Some of the proposed options carry significant costs that we will outline at the meeting.  PHNA ...

  • Atlanta and Brookhaven Project Updates Please vote!  BUCKHEAD REdeFINED and the Peachtree Creek Greenway are both moving forward.  Both of these projects depend on council support in our respective cities and it is critical that we have a strong Pine Hills voter turnout to show our elected representatives our power at the polls.  PHNA makes no candidate endorsements – what is important is that you vote and that when we approach our representatives with requests, they know that Pine Hills residents turn out for elections.   • Neighborhood Safety and Security PHNA has been working since January on a security camera plan to supplement surveillance provided by the license plate readers awaiting installation by the Atlanta Police Foundation and the City of Brookhaven.  PHNA cameras will enhance our neighborhood police patrol and safety education efforts.  Total camera costs vary widely based on estimates from different monitoring companies.  Watch for announcements for a neighborhood meeting where we will present and discuss the plan and its cost; we are aiming for early October.   • Dekalb County Sanitation The Dekalb County Sanitation Division is changing its recycling container options. Effective September 11, 2017, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division will no longer offer 18-gallon bins and 40-gallon bags as part of the residential single-stream recycling program. A new standard 35-gallon roll cart will replace the bins and bags.
