  • Help Keep Traffic Moving PHNA would like to be proactive in keeping traffic moving for our residents through our neighborhood during the next several weeks while the 1-85 bridge is being repaired. During  construction, pulling out on to Buford Highway from Shady Valley will be a challenge, especially on weekday mornings and evenings as commuters block the intersection. It will be virtually impossible to pull out and try to turn left on to Cheshire Bridge Road. In order to help with the congestion, we propose paying for an off-duty police officer to direct traffic at this intersection from 7-9 am and  4-6 pm Monday through Friday during construction, currently scheduled to be complete by June 10.   • Atlanta Transportation Plan Thursday’s fire, subsequent closing of I-85, and re-routing plans are going to put a tremendous amount of stress on Pine Hills and local traffic over the next few months.  Both the City of Atlanta and City of Brookhaven had additional traffic control on major roadways on Friday and will continue to make modifications as bridge repairs begin.  A number of Buckhead neighborhoods are exploring whether we can hire off-duty officers to manage traffic at key hotspots like Shady Valley and Buford Highway.  We are discussing this with Major Shaw at our upcoming NPU-B meeting and will keep you informed of the outcome. The City of Atlanta, as part of “Atlanta’s Transportation Plan,” is asking ...

  • Lenox Road Interchange – Buckhead reDefined Update The Pine Hills Neighborhood Association (PHNA) received concept drawings from the engineers working on the Buckhead reDefined project and posted them on our website (www.mypinehills.org ).  These drawings show the 3 options for a Lenox Road Interchange off GA 400 that were presented at the January 19th community meeting.  Project staff stressed that the drawings were meant to convey the general ideas being proposed and do not indicate exact placement of the interchange or length of ramps. The engineers have agreed to meet with the PHNA leadership to discuss neighborhood concerns about these proposed solutions to Lenox Road traffic.  We will send a summary of the meeting to the neighborhood with suggested next steps.  Meanwhile, you can review ...
