1.  We will watch the Presidential speech as a class---those who are opting out will have an alternate reading to respond to.  As we watch the speech, highlight sections of the speech transcript we have provided you.  You may copy and paste the text into Google docs and highlight there.  :-)
2.  Review rules/guidelines for blogging and posting on the wiki.
3.  Respond to the speech on our class wiki under "Discussion"---Respond to the speech on our class blog; please type/save/spellcheck in Google Docs first before you post.  The writing prompt is on our class wiki discussion page under the category "Response to Presidential Speech"; choose the thread for your class period.

Our writing prompt for the discussion on the class blog is this:
Go back and look at the text of the speech and sections you highlighted.
1. What two passages stood out to you? This may be a passage you found to be important or meaningful in some way. Please include your passage by placing it in quotation marks in your response here on the blog.  Please also discuss why these passages stood out to you/seemed important.
2. Based on these excerpts, what can we infer that the president believes is important in order to be educationally successful?
3. What do YOU believe is important in order for students to educationally successful?

Please compose your response into three paragraphs. You will need to type, 
spellcheck/proofread, and save in Google Docs and/or Word BEFORE you post. Thank you!
