The ‘REST’ of the Story…

The Sabbath Truth

The reason I titled this, The REST of the story is because we are going to speak about ‘REST’ and Resting.

Most people, when you speak about the 10 Commandments don’t have a problem until you get to one in particular; and that’s the 4th Commandment.

Often times, people will ask me what ‘Denomination’ I belong to, and I say ‘Christian’; and they will press the issue for a Denomination.  I try to explain that God did not create ‘Division’ as in Denomination but created one ‘Church’, the Body of Christ, and one Word, The Word of God; and I believe in the WHOLE Word of God… THE BIBLE: Beginning to End, Genesis to Revelation and not tradition of man.  And, as God revels truth to me in the Bible, I change and conform to the image of Christ.

So, what I am going to share is a hard truth to swallow but, the evidence is so clear and the Holy Spirit witnessed the same truth to my spirit, it was not hard for me to accept it.  What was hard; was, I had to change my life around it; but, I asked God for His help, and now it is a joy.  I pray that you do not reject truth, but instead, pray for help on conforming to Christ Likeness (if you are not already practicing this truth).

After finding out the truth about the Sabbath and struggling with it because of my tradition, I got together with some pastor and elder friends and put the question to them:

“Why Do We Go To Church On Sunday?”

And they all gave me different answers.  Right there at the “round table”, none of had the same answer.  There was confusion.  It became apparent to me, that something was wrong and what the Spirit witnessed to my spirit was true.

One would say, “We go to church on Sunday because Jesus rose on the first day of the week, which is Sunday, and we celebrate on the day He was resurrected.  It’s the Christian Sabbath, the New Testament Sabbath.”   It made sense and several, including myself, had this belief; but after learning what I did about the truth of the Sabbath, I asked:

“That sounds good and it seems sensible, but where is the Scripture for it?”  The answer I got was, ‘There really is no clear Scripture that teaches it, but we have a long standing tradition.  We’ve been doing it this way for 1500+ years.’

I thought, that’s not a good reason, where is the Bible reason?  What is the foundation for what we stand for?  Is it mans tradition, or the written Word of God?  Of course, It’s the Scriptures.  How else can you defend it?

Another at the table argued, “It really doesn’t matter what day of the week you attend church, because, we’re not under the Law now, we’re under Grace.”  And some, agreed with him, and I too believed this.  So, I asked him…

“So, what you’re telling me is, you believe, God doesn’t want us to keep the 10 Commandments and we can throw them out of the church, like the schools threw them out; because we’re not under the Law but under Grace?”

He said, “Yes.”

The pastors at the table gasped, hearing him say we don’t have to keep the Commandments.  So he changed his mind and said “No.”

Then he realized that in saying that, he’d have to have the 4th Commandment included in that so he changed his mind again and said, “Yes?” so he said, “Well yes, we keep 9 of them, all of them except the 4th one.”

That was ridiculous and I gave him a look as though he needed to reevaluate what he just said and I asked him…

So you’re telling me, the one Commandment we should Forget, is the one and only Commandment that starts with the word, REMEMBER?

That started an argument at the table and one in frustration spoke up and said, Back in the days of Joshua, the sun stood still, Saturday became Sunday and so we worship on Sunday.

At this point I knew things were getting out of hand and they we’re reaching at straws, but, to question that statement anyway, I asked, “So why did they continue the Sabbath for 1000 years after that?” and I left, leaving them to their arguments.  But before leaving I challenged them to disprove the Sabbath and get back to me.  That was over 3 months ago and I had not heard from any of them.

At that ‘round table’ there were many ‘reasons’ to have worship on Sunday, but no one had any Scripture that commands us to keep the 1st day of the week holy as the Sabbath; replacing Gods chosen day of REST, the 7th or Sabbath day, to support it.

In my struggle to keep my tradition, I tried to find Scriptural support to find even one Scripture that supported keeping the 1st day of the week holy and could not find one; but, there are plenty that support keeping the 7th or Sabbath day of rest holy.

I would not make such an issue about this except, if, the 10 Commandments, were spoken by Gods voice and written by His one Finger, if there is something worth standing for, anything, wouldn’t be that?  The 10 Commandments???  Wouldn’t that be among that group of things you would be willing to STAND for?

There are stories in the Bible where Daniel was willing to die, rather than disobey one of God’s Commandments.  Examples are: The Lions Den and another would be Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego The Furnace.

(Just as in the days of Daniel, at the end of time, Gods people commanded how to worship)

Is God going to want less from His people in the last days (them willing to die rather than worship the Beast or his image the way he wants)?

Some may say, That’s fine, but is it actually necessary for New Testament Christians to keep the 7th Day Sabbath?

Up to this point, I’ve been laying a foundation so now, Let’s find out what the Bible says:  You do want to know what the BIBLE says on this topic, don’t you?

We’ll start with the Commandment:

Exodus 20:8-11

This is the 4th of the 10 Commandments.  It’s the longest of the 10 Commandments.  It’s the only Commandment that begins with the word Remember; implying that God knew we may forget or be persuaded to worship on a different day.  It’s also the only Commandment with the word Holy in it.

8 REMEMBER the Sabbath Day, to Keep It Holy.

9 Six days shall you labor, and do all thy work:

10 But the Seventh Day is the, Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son(s), nor your daughter(s), nor your manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

(WHY?)

11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and Rested the Seventh Day: wherefore the LORD Blessed the Sabbath Day, and Hallowed It.

Remember, they are not called the 10 suggestions, the 10 recommendations, the 10 ideas.  When the All Mighty, the Creator of the Cosmos of all the Heavens says, ‘This is MY will…  Do This.’  Then He wants us to DO it.  (It comes down to obedience)  Not just to be hearers of the Word, but doers.

So lets clarify:

What is the Sabbath Day?

Of course it was the Sabbath day the God rested from His creation.  For 6 days God created the world; and He ‘Made’ different things those 6 days; what did he ‘Make’ on the 7th day?  Nothing… He made a ‘DAY’.  The only thing He made on the 7th day was the 7th day.  It was the Sabbath.

Do we still need everything God made on those other 6 days?  Of course!  Then why would we think that the only thing He made on the 7th day is no longer needed?

The Sabbath goes back to creation.  It was part of His perfect plan.  There was no sin in the world at this time.

Genesis 2:2,3

And on the 7th day God ended His work which He had done, and He RESTED on the 7th day from all of His work which He had done.  Then God BLESSED the 7th day and SANCTIFIED it, because in it He RESTED from all His work, which God had created and made.

The Sabbath is a Holy sphere of time, which dates back to the beginning.

Now, you’ll see in the Commandment that, God RESTED, He BLESSED it and He SANCTIFIED it.  Man was made in the image of God.  God has asked us to follow His pattern; to embrace:

The REST.  Come to me Jesus said, and I will give you rest.

The BLESSING.  He’s Blessed this day above every other day. So many people are missing the Blessing because you must capitalize on that by faith.  You must claim it.  It’s there whether you believe it or not.  The 7th day is the Sabbath whether you’ve ever known it or not, whether you believe it or not, that doesn’t change it.  If you don’t believe that the 7th day is the Sabbath, your belief is not going to affect that truth.  The truth is the truth, whether you believe is or not.  And He…

SANTIFIED it.  He made it HOLY.  When God tells us something is Holy, it’s still Holy.  There were 2 institutions created in the garden of Eden.  1) Marriage and  2) the Sabbath.

All Love Relationships Flourish when given Quality and Quantity of TIME.  Like your wife, God requires TIME and communication for your relationship to grow with Him.

The reason the devil hates the Sabbath truth is because, he knows if he can get people so busy with the cares of life, that they will not be thinking about that Quality Time, that appointment that we have with God, where our relationship with Him is to grow, to be nurtured and nourished.

Not only that, people need Physical Rest.  Consider the stress that people fight with…  More than any other time in history, today, people struggle with stress.  Stress affects, family relationships, work relationships, our health and outlook on life.

It’s important to Rest and God made a day so we can rest and enjoy that rest.

Every Sabbath day was designed so you can lay your burdens on the Lord.  Jesus said, Take MY yoke; Because His yoke was easy.  He wants you to lay your burdens at His feet and take His Rest.

The Sabbath is a restful, renewing of that relationship with the Lord every week.

It’s also a Memorial of Creation (which means there is a Creator that the devil wants us to forget).  Every time you remember the ‘Sabbath’ Day, you remember in 6 days God created.  It is a constant memorial that God is our Creator.

You can find that in Ezekiel 20

There He tells us that He, gave us the Sabbath day as a sign of Redemption.

Not only does it remind us that He is the Creator, that He made us, it reminds us that He is our Redeemer.

For instance…

Exodus 31:13

Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep:  For it is a SIGN between Me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.

Ezekiel 20:20

Hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a SIGN between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

Did it stop being a SIGN that He is our Creator and our Redeemer?  No; that is a perpetual sign, one that is on going.  That’s why God told us in the Commandment…  REMEMBER the Sabbath day to keep it holy.  Exodus 20:8

Why would God make such a big deal about keeping the Sabbath?

The Sabbath is a Universal Institution

You and I live in something called time.

If you have no more time (you’re dead), that’s bad news, right?  The Sabbath is a memorial knowing that God gives us life, that He redeems us.  Relationships are built in time and the devil hates that.

The devil knows that if we give God our time we will build a relationship with Him.  As we build a relationship with Him we will get to know Him better.  The better we get to know Him the more we will see He loves us.  When we see how much He loves us, we in turn will love Him and want to obey Him.  So the devil hates that.

This is where people receive the power to live the Christian life.  It’s in the relationship with Christ and the Sabbath is all about building that relationship; that love, that quality and quantity time with God.

The Sabbath is NOT a Jewish Law.

The Bible is clear that the Sabbath is for EVERYBODY.

Mark 2:27 (Jesus speaking)

The Sabbath was made for man.

This would be an easy place for Him to say the Sabbath was made for Jews or Hebrews, but He said the Sabbath was made for MAN.

He traces it back to the garden of Eden.  After 6 days God created TIME (a day), He created time so MAN can have communication with God and build a relationship with Him.  Every MAN needs the Sabbath (rest and relationship with God)

Here’s something else God created in the garden….

God created woman.  Do we still need woman?   :o)

Do we still need the Sabbath?

Isaiah 56:6  (The Sabbath is not just for one race)

Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, every one that keepth THE Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant, even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer.

It’s for everybody.

In the early days of the Church when anyone converted to Christianity, they embraced the Sabbath along with the other principles of the Bible.

A Time for Corporate Worship

We need that.  We need to come together to fellowship, to edify and build each other up.  And the Bible tells us in Exodus 23:  The Sabbath is a holy convocation.  Convocation, meaning a formal assembly of people.  That’s where the word convention comes from.

The Sabbath IS one of the 10 Commandments

Exodus 20:

8 REMEMBER the Sabbath Day, to Keep It Holy.

Notice God did not say: Remember the Sabbath day and start to keep IT holy.  He said Keep IT Holy.  That implies that IT is already holy.  He made IT in the beginning of time, holy, and He is asking us to keep what He has already made holy, holy.

It did not start being holy with Moses.  Some people believe God created the Sabbath for the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai; it goes back to Genesis.

Exodus 16:25 Shows that the Sabbath was not given at Mt Sinai

Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a SABBATH TO THE LORD; today you will not find in the field.” (Referring to manna that the Lord gave a double portion to the day before)

This was said because there were those who still went out on the Sabbath looking to gather manna and the Lord rebuked them saying Why do you work and not keep my Commandments.

This occurred to the children Israel that came out of Egypt before they even got to My Sinai.  Notice that occurred in Exodus 16 but the 10 Commandments was written in stone in Exodus 20.  The Sabbath Truth was established as a Law well before they got to Mt Sinai in Exodus 20.

It goes back to Adam and Eve.  We all need rest; it’s not just a ‘Jewish’ need.  God did not get it wrong at Creation; the Sabbath rest is part of Gods perfect plan.

What about the New Testament Sabbath; would mean that there was something wrong with the old Sabbath. Again, did God get it wrong or what it perfect from the beginning?

That brings us to the next question:

Which DAY of the Week Is THE Sabbath?

Again:  Genesis 2:2,3

And on the 7th day God ended His work, which He had done, and He rested on the 7th day (What day?  The 7th Day) from all His work which He had done.  Then God blessed the 7th day (what day?  The 7th day was blessed) and sanctified it, because in IT He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

This is the first time something is mentioned 3 times is when it is in connection with the Sabbath.  It says, In the 7th day, in the 7th day, in the 7th day.

Now if you have caveman theology and you hear 777 together like that, one of the things that may pop into your mind is, what the mark of the beast is 666.  666 being the mark or seal, the sign of the beast; Earlier we learned that the SIGN, the seal of the believer is the Sabbath.  That number 7 is a SIGN that you are resting in the Lord; that you’re trusting in Him.

Notice God did not say, Keep A Sabbath.  He said, Keep THE Sabbath.

Now before continuing I must mention that I struggled with this.  I had to come to a place where I asked God, God is this truth.  I did not want to reject something because it would bring hardship to my life.  I wanted first to find out what truth is.  Then, once I found the truth about the Sabbath, I asked God to help me live in the truth.

I found I did loose some friends within my Christian circle and it is hard to find work when you choose to Rest on the Sabbath and do no work.  But my desire to be marked with Gods Seal as a Sign of being one of His children is more important than anything else.  And God is faithful and provides.  Not only that, but, God did not give me this truth to be a burden.  Since practicing Rest and keeping the Sabbath Holy by wholly giving God my Time, I have gotten so much closer to the Lord that I find it most Joyful.  Now as soon as I come into His presence, I am overwhelmed with His love and acceptance and I am at peace with my assurance in my salvation.  It certainly is a blessing.

Back to the study…

God doesn’t say, keep ‘a’ Sabbath, He says, Keep ‘THE’ Sabbath.  For instance…  If I were to say, “Would you bring me A chair” You would bring me any ole chair and that would fit my desire; but, if I were to say, “Bring me THE chair” you would have to wonder or even question, ‘What specific chair is he speaking of?’

The Bible doesn’t say ‘a’ 7th day is the Sabbath, it says, ‘THE’ 7th day is the Sabbath.

Isn’t that what He says?  And He means what He says, doesn’t He…  He’s God.

Now if you have any doubts on what the ‘Sabbath’ day is as being what is commonly called Saturday: Let’s see what Webster’s Dictionary says about Saturday.

Sat-ur-day

noun,  Abbr. S., Sat.

“The Seventh Day of the week”

Now if you’re wondering about Sunday because you thought Sunday was the seventh day of the week…

Webster’s Dictionary

Sun-day

noun,  Abbr. S., San.

“The First Day of the week”

Sometimes people will start their calendar off with a Monday, Saturday or Sunday, but that doesn’t change what the actual day of the week that day is.  Just because I put Monday, on my calendar as the first day, doesn’t change that Sunday is actually the first day of the week.  I just prefer to see Monday starting my calendar off.

Now to be fair… the calendar has changed several times in the past.  The names of the months and days have changed as well as the number of days in the months have changed, BUT the DAYS of the week (first day of the week through the seventh ‘Sabbath’ day) have never changed.  (We’ll teach more on this when we teach about the two beast in Revelation)

In 1582 Pope Gregory the XIII  changed the calendar from Friday October 5 and the next day was Saturday October 15.  Ten days were lost, but the days of the week continued.

The reason for the change at this time was so the dates of the seasons and their weather would line up, because people would plant and reap their crop on certain days and the temperatures did not line up since there was a shift in the weather.

When the dates changed, Friday was still followed by Saturday.

Another compelling argument in the Bible is found in Luke 23:54 – 24:1 (When Christ died)

And they returned and prepared spices and ointments; and rested THE Sabbath day according to THE Commandment.

(This was written by Luke, a Gentile; 20 years after the cross.  If there was a ‘new’ Christian Sabbath, this would have been a good place for him to mention it, provided there was one; but he doesn’t)  And it’s interesting to note that Jesus choose Friday afternoon, when the Sabbath was about to begin to say, It Is Finished.  He went to sleep, He rested through the Sabbath – from His work of saving mankind, and He rose on Sunday to continue His work as our High Priest.  Not to establish a new day of rest.  Jesus even kept the Sabbath in His death!

So when we look at the Bible we see that Jesus was taken down from the cross on Friday, we call it Good Friday, and the Bible calls it the Preparation Day.  He rested in the tomb the Sabbath, the Sabbath was about to begin, after the Sabbath was passed, they came to the tomb as the first day began to dawn, what we would commonly call Sunday morning.

There is no dispute that Jesus rose on Sunday morning, the question is, does that make it a new Sabbath day?  Jesus died on Friday, does that make it a new Sabbath day?  The Lords supper was celebrated on Thursday, does that make it a new Sabbath day?  Jesus did many wonderful things throughout this last week, but there is nothing wrong with the original Sabbath; why would He change it?  Does that make sense.

Now we know that between Friday when He died on the cross and Sunday the first day of the week when He rose…  is what day?  Saturday.  (The last day of the week)

It hasn’t changed.

In fact, most ‘Christians’ who go to church on Sunday do not dispute going to church on the first day of the week, their confusion or argument is, not knowing why and keeping it that day; but, they still fail to produce a Commandment.

And then another compelling argument in knowing what day of the week it is, is there are millions of Jewish people around the world, that have been keeping the 7th day of the week as the Sabbath day since the beginning of time.  They know what their holy day unto God is.

It is obvious what the 7th day is.  In fact, in 108 languages of the world, the word for the 7th day of the week is some form of the word “Sabbath”.

In Spanish Sabatho is Saturday or Sabbath Day; Russian, Subotha, and many other languages have Sabbath Day to mean the 7th day of the week.

When does the Biblical Sabbath begin?

Leviticus 23:32

From evening to evening, you shall celebrate your Sabbath.

It begins at sundown (about 6pm)

Again, Mark 1:32

At evening, when the sun had set, they brought Him all who were sick (they waited for the Sabbath to be over at sun down) and those who were demon-possessed.

The big question is…  As Christians, the name implies Follow of Christ.

What day did Jesus keep the Sabbath?

Mark 6:2

And when the Sabbath day was come, He began to teach in the synagogue (the church).

Luke 4:16

So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.

Jesus went to church on the Sabbath day, He read the Scriptures on the Sabbath day.  As a follower you would follow His pattern; and He never told His disciples to do otherwise.

In Matthew 24:20 Jesus speaking about the end times, says

And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

Jesus looking far ahead into the future, well after His death, prophesized His people (the Church) would still be keeping the Sabbath, warned that they should pray that their flight NOT be on the Sabbath day, so they would not have to break that Commandment.

That tells us something about His recognizing how important the Sabbath is.  Some people think Jesus came to do away with the Sabbath, because occasionally He’d heal people or do good deeds on the Sabbath…   Yes, He wanted to take away some of the misconceptions about the Sabbath.  He clarified the Sabbath truth because there were an number of man made laws that had been attached to it and put people in bondage.

But He did not do away with it.

It’s still holy, He kept it by His example.

Did the Early Christians Keep the Sabbath?

Acts 17:1, 2

They came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.  Then Paul as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures.

Not only did Paul practice that on the Sabbath, with the Jews, but also with the Gentiles.

Acts 13:42

The Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.

In the New Testament, both Jew and Gentile meet on the Sabbath Day.

If you add them up, there are over 100 examples of the disciples keeping the Sabbath well after Jesus ascended into heaven, in the New Testament.

Acts 13:44

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.  (Jew and Gentile)

Acts 16:13

And on the Sabbath day ‘WE’ (remember Luke a Gentile wroth Acts) went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to women who were there.

All through the Roman Empire, they knew that Gods people kept the 7th day Sabbath.

One of the greatest arguments of the practice of the New Testament church is in Luke 23:56

Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils, and they rested on the Sabbath according to the Commandment.

When Christ died and they were not finished preparing His body for burial, and yet with their incredible love for Him, they still would not violate the Sabbath because they knew how important that was to Him.

Now it would be logical to say, Well we’re here, we have all the supplies and we’ve already started, lets just finish; but they knew that after spending 3 ½ years with Christ, how important the Sabbath was to Him. They knew He would not be pleased with that.

So because they believed it would displease the Lord, they waited until Sunday morning to complete what they started.

They had no indication from Jesus that keeping the Sabbath would be done away with and knew it would be a violation of one of the 10 Commandments, so they waited until the morning after the Sabbath.

Are the 10 Commandments still valid?

Jesus said I Luke 16:17

… It’s easier for heaven and earth to pass, than for one tittle of the Law to fail.

Gods Law is perfect.  Gods Law does not need to be changed.  The purpose of the Gospel is to transform us.  We are what needs changing, not the Law.  Yet, so many in the church are trying to change the standard of God to accommodate mans sinfulness.  No, the purpose of the Gospel is to lift man up from His sinfulness to Gods purity.

Revelation 22:14

Blessed are those who DO His Commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

God expects His people to keep them.

Hebrews 13:8  Gods Law has not changed

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Again in Malachi 3:5

For I am the Lord, I do not change.

God could have used paper if His Law was going to change.  Ceremonially laws were written on some kind of paper or parchment, God, with His own finger wrote, and His own voice spoke His Law, the 10 Commandments, on stone, showing permanence.  If He was going to change one of them, I don’t think he would have arch welded it with His own finger into solid rock.

Right now we are living in the New Covenant.  In the Old Covenant, the Law was written in stone.  In the New Covenant, the Law of God is written on our hearts and in our minds.  The LAW did not change, just the covenant, where it was written.  Now it is in our hearts and on our minds.

Love is the fulfilling of the Law.  If you Love God, you’ll keep the first four Commandments…   (Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, mind, soul and strength)

If you love your neighbor (fellow man) you’ll keep the last six.  (And love your neighbor as yourself)

Does one Commandment really matter?  I mean as long as you’re doing 90% that’s not so bad, right?

If you got a 90% on a test in school, that would be very good.

But it doesn’t work that way with Gods Law.

James 2:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

For those that think that 90% is good enough, would you think is was good enough if you did not keep the 4th Commandment or the Sabbath, (90%) and yet your spouse kept the Sabbath but not the 7th Commandment (90%).  The 7th Commandment being adultery?

They too kept 90%, that’s good enough, right?  Of course not!  We are to keep all 10 Commandments.

If you love someone and especially God, you would not consider that 90% argument.

God love you and when you don’t keep His Sabbath, He says…   What about me?

Jesus says in Matthew 5:19

Whosoever therefore shall break one of the least of these Commandments, and shall teach men so, he will be called least in the kingdom of God, but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

When ever you’re in doubt on what to do, first follow Jesus example and you’ll be safe.

And do the safe thing.  I know you won’t be in trouble come judgment day for keeping the 4th Commandment along with the other 9 Commandments.

And it strikes me a being strange…  I have been to many churches in the past, and I heard the Commandments of God preached and everyone will say Amen, but no one preaches on the 4th Commandment or keeping the Sabbath, they may be ok with that, but once you add, on the 7th day, the day God Blessed and said to keep Holy; even when hearing the over whelming truth and the volume of evidence, they still fight and oppose it; preferring to keep their man made traditions and they yell out ‘Legalism!  We’re not under the Law!’

I find it strange that ‘Christians’ would find themselves very uncomfortable and aggressive against one of Gods truths, Gods Commandment.  Something is just not right.  It’s a serious sin to quench the Holy Spirit over and over.

Will we keep the Sabbath in Eternity?

Isaiah 66:22, 23

For as the new heavens and new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,  saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.  (Speaking of the New Heaven and the New Earth)

And it shall come to pass, that… from one Sabbath to another, shall ALL flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

Side note:  Who do you think the preacher will be in heaven…  Jesus.  I bet, no one will fall asleep during His sermons.  :o)

Follow me for just a moment:  We already know that God created the Sabbath back in the Garden with Adam.  We know that they kept it in the Old Testament and when they forgot about it, the Lord would remind them through the prophets, we know that Jesus and the Apostles, and Christian throughout history up to just 400 or 500 ago, in fact there are Christians that have always kept the Sabbath, why would we not keep it now; in light of knowing that we are even going to keep it in heaven?

Why would there be this brief period of time where God was going to change days or do away with it?

It just doesn’t make sense.

People of God are under attack because the devil is attacking their relationship with God.

In Heaven we’ll be keeping the Sabbath day.  It will be a time of resting with God.  Jesus said, Come to me and I will give you rest.

The ultimate coming to Jesus is when He returns to come and pick us up and take us away back to glory!  Amen?  At that time we will spend a 1000 year Sabbath with Him.

Why do Religious Leaders ignore the truth about the Sabbath?

Mark 7:9

He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

Putting aside a Commandment of God is not new for Religious Leaders and to favor traditions for their own personal interest and personal gain; rather than the clear Commandment of God.

Luke 6:46

But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and yet do not do the things which I say?

Ezekiel 22:26, 31

Her priests have violated my law, and profaned mine holy things; they have put no difference between the holy and the profane …and have hid their yes from my Sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.  Therefore have I poured out my indignation upon them.

When God tells us that the Sabbath is HIS holy day, It’s the Sabbath Of The LORD, and we say, It just doesn’t matter; how can we honestly say, he has our heart when he doesn’t have our time.

Let’s face it.  It’s easier for some people to give God their money than to give Him their time.  When you love someone, you invest time with them.

What should I do about the Sabbath Truth?

John 14:15

If ye love me, keep My Commandments.

John 13:17

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Why do I share these things now at this time with you, to make problems… no.  Although there are no guarantees that there will be no problems in following the Lord, in fact just the opposite, there will be, but you will be happier.

We are in the End of Days, the Last Minutes before the return of the Lord.  The Lord did not allow you to get this teaching to create problems; He provided it because, He is trusting you with truth; and when you take a stand for the truth there is a blessing.

What’s the worst thing that can happen (and may to some of us), that we stand for the Sabbath truth and are killed for it; and if you die standing up for Jesus, what’s the next thing you’re aware of…   Your problems are over.  You’ll be standing before the Lord.  It would be the best thing that ever happened to you.

If we haven’t got time to give Jesus one day in seven, how will you endure eternity with Him?

Isaiah 58:13, 14  (Promise for keeping the Sabbath)

If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath (from trampling it and making it unholy), from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.  The mouth of the Lord has spoken.

When the children of Israel were getting ready to enter the promise land, God said to Moses:  Exodus 33:14

And He said, My Presence will go with you, and I will give you REST.

The promise land was the very symbol of that REST that God was going to give them.

But the devil doesn’t want us to have that rest.  He wants us to be so occupied with the cares of this world that the coming of the Lord will over take us like a thief and we are unprepared as 5 of the virgins were unprepared.

Every Sabbath day, we put the break on and we recalibrate our life and our relationship with the Lord.  We get our priorities straight; and the devil doesn’t want us to do that.

Even in Gods Remnant church we are getting very sloppy about how we’re keeping the Sabbath.  If fact, I’m going to say that if you go back in time 100 years, most Sunday keepers were keeping Sunday better than Sabbath keepers are NOW keeping the Sabbath.

The devil has done a great job in deceiving Gods people, those that don’t know about the Sabbath truth and keep Sunday as their day of worship, and Sabbath keepers; he’s deceived them in not just not keeping the Sabbath, but not keeping it holy and unto the Lord.

Let’s face it, after church gathers they go to do their own pleasures.  The go to the movie, the mall, shop, mow the lawn or what ever.  It’s not a Sabbath even for those who say it’s a different day.

They don’t spend time building a relationship with the Lord digging deeper into the things that were taught from the pulpit or prayer and personal Bible Study.

It’s important to get the day right, but let’s not stop there, Let’s keep it holy.

How did so many people start keeping Sunday as the Sabbath?

Encyclopedia Britannica, 11th Edition, Article ‘Sunday’

The earliest recognition of the observation of Sunday as a legal duty is a constitution of Constantine in 321 AD, enacting that all courts of justice, … inhabitants of towns, and workshops were to be at rest on Sunday.  Called the ‘Venerabili dei solis’; (having to do with sun worship) with an exception in favor of those engaged in agricultural labor.

He established Sunday as the day of worship.  Many Christians who were trying to get in close with the new ‘christian’ Emperor, little by little swayed from their belief; including the Sabbath of the 7th day and excepted the pagan sun worship on Sun – day.

The Converts Catechism of the Catholic Doctrine is very open about the topic.

Q: Which is the Sabbath day?

A: Saturday is the Sabbath Day

Q: Then why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?

A:  We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.

They freely admitted that.  It happened in the early movement of the church in Rome and was even warned of by the New Testament writers.

Catholic Encyclopedia,  Volume 4 Page 153

The church after changing the day of rest from the Jewish Sabbath or the 7th day Sabbath of the week to the first, made the third commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be kept holy as the Lord’s day.   (They did away with the 2nd commandment having to do with idolatry)

It is so clear from history the Rome and the church in Rome changed Gods Sabbath day of rest and day to keep holy.  The question is, why won’t Bible believing Christians take a stand?

So many Christian movements have come out of the dark ages and come back to the Bible, but they stop at one of God’s Commandments, Sabbath truth! The one, that deals with the love relationship, and giving God your time and your life.

The Bible foretold in prophecy in Daniel 7:25

The Beast Power…  He shall… think to change TIMES and LAWS.

There is only one Law that is a Law and a Time.  That’s the Sabbath Commandment.  It is both a Law (a Commandment) and a Time (the 7th day of the week).

There is so much more that I will share with you in the future on this topic.  For right now, ask the Spirit of the Lord to be a witness to your spirit what the truth is on this matter.  Then ask the Lord to give you peace and show you what to do about your conclusions.

In closing, you have to concede that the 7th day Sabbath is one of Gods Commandments.  If it was changed, it would be mentioned all over the New Testament.  There is a lot to say about circumcision and un-circumcision and that’s not a Commandment.  Don’t you think if one of the Commandments had changed, it would be clearly mentioned at least once, instead of the pile of evidence to the contrary?

We may come up with all these creative and rationally reasons why we don’t want to give God our time on His chosen day, but be honest with yourself and your spirit.  Call it for what it is.  If you struggle with the truth, lay it at the foot of the cross.  It’s better to say, Lord, This makes sense, but I’m struggling.  And, regardless what you feel, or what anyone says, pray that God, reveal it to you clearly in the Word of God.

The Bible is very clear.  God’s Law does not change.

Jesus wants you to have that Rest and the devil what you to work yourself to death.  When Moses came to liberate the people from bondage, Pharaoh was made, saying, “You’re making the people rest.”  (You are making the people ‘Sabbath’)

That Pharaoh represents the devil, and that’s how the devil feels today.

Before the great deliverance in the days of Moses, there was a revival of the Sabbath truth; just as before Jesus comes to take us away from our bondage, there will be plagues again and revival of the Sabbath truth among Gods people.

Next week I will send a teaching on the Beast of Revelation and how the teaching here ties in with Revelation.  Sadly, the USA is the 2nd Beast of Revelation, and I will share how.

Seeing the events of Revelation rapidly unfold is exciting because the Lord will return soon for His church
