Thank you to all who joined us at the tree lighting ceremony on June 6, 2021,
in Brian's honor.
This may well be the hardest thing I have done in my many years as a Gator parent volunteer who has worn so many hats. It is not often that we need to memorialize a Gator swimmer - thankfully - and in fact it hasn't happened since the end of the 2008 swim season with the tragic death of Mark Fracasso, Jr., who died in a traffic accident on the day of Divisionals. That loss of a young promising Gator shook our community to the core. And sadly, here we are again.
Brian was an amazing young man, a great swimmer, and the life of the party. We all thought we would be just missing him on deck as he moved on to his next chapter in life, instead we will miss him in a much deeper way.
In case you had not yet heard, Brian McNamara, a Gator swimmer who we celebrated as a graduating Senior, just last summer amidst the strange COVID season which stole a lot from the Class of 2020, is no longer with us on this Earth. Brian's heartwarming "Reflections of a Gators" piece, a tradition for graduating seniors, says it all. Reading it, you will understand the importance that this team brings to the swimmers, their parents, and our community. Even more so now with the untimely loss of Brian.
Brian started his Gator career as a five year old and provided a constant winning smile and good fun throughout the years. Brian was the kid you could always spot on deck or in the water partly because of his bright red hair (okay, as a teen it was a few different colors as well!), but also because of his dynamic smile and his constant amazing sportsmanship.

We invite you to add your own pictures and memories of Brian to the album.
Brian, you are in all of our hearts and you will never be forgotten. Once a Gator, Always a Gator.
