The Mount Vernon Park Gator swim team was one of six charter members of the Northern Virginia Swimming League, which was founded in 1956 to sponsor competitive swimming and diving events and activities among community swimming pools of Northern Virginia, and to develop in the children participating in this program, a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship. Today, the NVSL includes an estimated 17,000 swimmers from 102 community pools, seeded in 17 divisions based on the prior season's results. The NVSL’s goal of fostering sportsmanship is still paramount today as the team and the league begin our 61st year of league competition. The Swim Team committee and coaches will continue foster sportsmanship and a love of the sport at MVP.

This year, the Gators are in NVSL Division 3, and will swim NVSL dual meets (aka A-meets) on Saturday mornings.  We will also swim Developmental Meets (aka B-meets) on Monday nights.  There will also be several internal team meets (Time Trials, Green & White, Romp in the Swamp), Invitational Meets (Fort Hunt Sportsman Relays and IM Invitational), and NVSL Relay and Individual Championship Meets at the Division and League levels. Our Head Coach is Paul Makin, our Assistant Head Coach is Jen Crowther, and we have an amazing group of Assistant Teen Coaches who are also available for private lesson (click on Team Info tab above for more info). Our Team Reps are Rose Pascarell and Jamey Piland.
