Mutiara Beach Resort in Bintan - how to get there?

1. FROM SINGAPORE VIA BINTAN RESORTS (recommended)
sea travel:
-  Bintan Resorts is located on Bintan's north coast
-  book a ferry on   www.brf.com.sg  (only ferry operator for Bintan Resorts, tel. +65-6542 4369)
-  Bintan Resort ferries leave from Tanah Merah ferry terminal on Singapore’s east coast
-  the ferry journey takes about 1 hour
land transport:
-  get an Indorent taxi from the Bintan Resorts ferry terminal (we can reserve on your behalf)
-  the two-way taxi fare after contract rate discount is Rp.650,000 per car (drop off + pick up)
-  the land journey to Mutiara Beach takes about 50 minutes
our opinion:
-  plus    :  faster sea journey, very efficient ferry terminal, quality taxis & experienced drivers
-  minus  : a bit more pricey, little local shopping opportunities, less adventurous trip

2. FROM SINGAPORE VIA TANJUNG PINANG
sea travel:
-  Tanjung Pinang is Bintan's capital, located in the south of the island
-  SG ferries: sindoferry.com.sg or wavemaster.com.sg -MY ferries: berjayawaterfront.com.my
-  ferries leave from Tanah Merah ferry terminal in Singapore, or Stulang Laut in Johore Baru
-  the ferry journey takes about 2 hours
land transport:
-  get a local taxi from the fleet waiting outside the Tg. Pinang ferry terminal
-  the taxi fare must be negotiated on the spot (around Rp.500,000 for two-way trip)
-  the land journey to Mutiara Beach takes about 60 minutes
our opinion:
-  plus    :  ferry & taxi slightly cheaper, plenty of local shopping, more adventurous trip
-  minus  : longer sea journey, less predictable operations, no fixed taxi fare

  (note: Bintan ferries are leaving from Tanah Merah, not WTC)

3. FROM BATAM TO BINTAN
sea travel:
-  speedboats & ferries to Bintan leave from Telaga Punggur, on Batam's east coast
-  to Tanjung Uban 15 min. by local speedboat (every 1/2 hour, 7 am till 6 pm)
-  to Tanjung Pinang 60 min. by passenger ferry (every 1/2 hour, 8 am till 5 pm)
-  to Tanjung Uban 60 min. by ro-ro car ferry (4 times a day, check schedules with ASDP)
land transport:
-  local taxi from Tg. Uban to Mutiara Beach (approx. 75 min, no fixed price, must negotiate)
-  local taxi from Tg. Pinang ferry terminal to Mutiara Beach (as in section 1. above)

4. FROM ANY OF THE 'BINTAN RESORTS' HOTELS
day trips to Mutiara Beach can easily be arranged by the hotel's taxi counter
-  either as a free & easy island discovery tour (taxi on hourly hire)
-  or as a half-day tour package, including River Spa, lunch, beach, transport

5. BRING YOUR OWN BICYCLE
from the Bintan Resorts ferry terminal (approx. 50km):
- second T-junction after the rhino monument turn right, up the hill to Simpang Lagoi
- pass the Simpang Lagoi check post and turn left, towards Tanjung Pinang
- after exactly 20km, T-junction on top of a small hill, with a triangle of grass... turn left to Trikora
- follow the hilly road until Pengudang village, T-junction in front of the mosque, turn right
- at Sialang village hit the T-junction by the seashore and turn right, towards Kawal & Tg. Pinang
- about 5km later, sandy path on the left marked by 2 orange banners and a blue rock

   2 orange banners + blue rock = resort entrance

from Tanjung Pinang ferry terminal (approx. 55km):
- drive out of town towards Tanjung Uban
- after 21km, Gesek village, turn right towards Kawal & Trikora
- follow the main road until Kawal, cross the steel bridge, continue along the coastal road
- after 55km, Telok Dalam village, primary school and mosque
- another 300m, turn right into the sandy path, entrance marked by orange flags and the blue rock

6. RENT A MOTORBIKE OR A SCOOTER
from Bintan Resorts:
- motorbikes or scooters can be rented from the Pujasera commercial centre
   Pujasera is about 2 km from the Bintan Resorts ferry terminal
- motorbike and scooters can also be rented in Tanjung Pinang from the 'ojek' drivers
   an ojek is an informal motobike taxi, provinding public transport around town
guests to pay vehicle owner directly
motorbike rental does not include petrol
driver is liable for damage to motorbike
driver & passenger must wear helmets
the guesthouse does not accept any liability
