Code resources for the tutorial

The code is saved on Google's code repository.  There are two script files:

Script CompileDataFrame


This script will extract data from magnatagatune data:

and produce an R compatible data frame:


and then save this to a date stamped (CSV) text file in the same directory.  This format will save time and memory later on in the analysis section. This script requires that all magnatagatune data is placed
in the same directory.

Usage:
The script can be copy/pasted into the main R console.  If there  are errors, it is likely due to an R configuration issue.  See comments on the corresponding line numbers for hints on how to fix them.  Send a note  to the maintainer if you are having problems.

Script RenderDataFrame

RenderDataFrame.R

This script will essentially generate (most of) the plots and statistical analyses used in the presentation.
The interactive 3d parts are left commented out, so that they  can run uninterrupted.

All of the analysis and visualization of data is done with the statistical language R. R behaves quite differently from other languages, even "similar" languages like Matlab, it might be worth your time to check the manual, especially since I use a lot of potentially strange looking vector slicing/indexing techniques.
The scripts also rely on plot3d, which renders interactive 3d plots of appropriate data sets.

Justin maintains the sculpt3d package for enhanced interaction with the 3d plot environment, so all questions about that package can be directed to him.
