From Mermaid Tales:

MY GREEN OCEAN by Ocean

Curling massive
Heaving golden green
Of such metallic sheen
Rose-tinged patina of satin gleam
With florescent lavender foam
Lighter than the whitest froth
You roam
Ever-advancing, ever-amassing,
Chaotic
Never mathematic
Hypnotic
Power so intrinsic
Phosphorescent
Fever so electric
Forevereverness
Weightiness that none can lift
When only the full moon
Can attract
Charm, suck
Magnetize
Long sheets of liquid metal
And green of golden sheen
With myriad sparkles in between
Owner of the realm of dreams
The lunar new year
Rolls along today
Reflected in your ever-restless face
Your huge massiveness of grace
Your overwhelming space
Amaranthine, lace-fringed
Row of glaze
How bright your gaze!
The tiny years touch you not
Eternal one- nor our tiny tears
Mercurial, those waves of glass
That none can capture in his grasp
However joyfully I will try
To hug, to grab, to catch
The tiniest wet, sparkling sliver
Of liquid dripping silver
And to hold your always-changing
Beauty in my eyes
For just a fraction - to
Memorize
Too overwhelmed to fathom
I can only try - worship
Imagine -
That I can hold
Remember
Just some golden section
Of a second's rushing by
To sigh
Too overawed
To cry
For what little thing am I
When next to thee
And I SO long to hold
Eternity!

My Dogs At Shore

By Ocean

Cavorting,

Running,

Ecstasy!

They come and

Throw themselves

At me,

And wild implore

The ball once more

To toss it out to sea

Go fetch !

Retrieve !

Their revelry

Can scarce

Contain

Within their frames,

And joyous barks

Bring out the grins

Of us and others,

Watching them -

Like their pals,

The dolphin pod,

At our own beach,

They gaze and nod

And know them well,

Our boys canine,

And join them there,

 And we, as one

 Among the skies,

 The thrilling waves,

 The rushing swells,

 The shuffled air

 Our Sunny’s eyes

 Make us his slaves!

 And happiness

 Has never come

 In such huge,

Overwhelming sums!

I AM THE SEA, by Ocean

SO WONDERFUL
TO HEAR THE LUSCIOUS
LAPPING OF THE SEA
BENEATH ME, AS IT'S
HARMONIOUS WAVES,
MAKE ALL WHO HEAR
IT, SLAVES -TO
ECSTASY
THE DRONING MASS,
HYPNOTIC CASTS
OF HEAVINESS
AND COOLING MISTS,
AS THEY INSIST
UPON THE SHORE
INCESSANTLY, I
BEG FOR MORE
NO INCANTATION
COULD, NO OTHER
VIBES, NO
INSTRUMENTS
INSIDE ME
RIDE, THE
MYSTERIES, THE
REVELRIES,
THE TUMBLING OF
EMOTION'S TIDES,
YET YOU,
THE OCEAN IN MY
VEINS, CAN EVER
ONLY
MY OWN SPIRIT TAME,
YOUR EVER-CONSTANT
LULLABY,
THE LOVELY, SNAKING,
HISSING SEA,
YOUR DEEP VOICE
SOFTENS ME,
TO LIQUID STATE,
YOUR MELLODIOUSLY
RESONANT TONES
PLAY OUT THEIR
TUNES, THEIR
MAGIC SPELLS,
THEIR SECRET RUNES
ALL THROUGH MY VEINS
AND MAKE ETERNAL
SWELLS IN ME
FOR I AM EVER NOUGHT, BUT THEE

THE OCEAN IS GREEN by Ocean

WHY SAY YOU
THE OCEAN IS BLUE
WHEN SHE IS SO CLEARLY GREEN?
AND ONLY SOMETIMES
APPEARS SO
WHEN SHE DEIGNS
TO REFLECT HIS GLEAM
AND FLING
A MEAGERLY FLIRTACIOUS
SHEEN
OF BLUE
BACK TO THE SKY
AND HE, IN HIS
MASCULINE REALM
HIS HEAVEN
SO THINKS
"SHE ADMIRES MY HUE,
AND STRENGTH AND ALL MY
ENTERPRISE,
MY KNOWING-
FOR I AM SO VERY WISE."
AND SHE, THE OCEAN, GREEN
WITH GOLDEN GLEAM
SMILES TO HERSELF,
HER FEMALE GAMES
AMUSEMENT TAMES
HIS ARROGANT STYLE,
AS SHE ROLLS ON HER
ETERNAL WAY
ALL-GREEN, ALL MYSTERY,
THE QUEEN
OF ALL BEAUTIFUL, GLEAMING THINGS

NATURE IS ALL - GOD

BY OCEAN

I'LL NEVER BE A STRANGER
TO THE NATURAL WORLD
THE WORLD OF MAN- YES
HAVE ALWAYS STOOD OUTSIDE
BEYOND THEM
THE ONES WHO RULE
THE ABUSERS
THE CARELESS
THE MYOPIC ONES
THE DESTROYERS
OF ALL THE SACRED
REALMS
I'LL NEVER SAY
GOOD-BYE TO
NATURE
OF ANY KIND
AND THERE DO I
BELONG
ALWAYS HAVE, ALWAYS WILL
TO MELD SEAMLESSLY
AMONG THE
NATURAL EBB AND FLOW
THE CEASELESS COME AND GO
THE DIE AND GROW
RENEW, RESTORE
ABSORB , AGAIN
AND FOREVER- LIFE REMAINS
FOREVER CHANGED
THE BEAUTY OF
THE UNIVERSE
IS ONLY SEEN
IN SEA AND EARTH
AND SKY AND SAND
AND AIR AND SUN
AND WILD THINGS IN BETWEEN
THE BIRDS AND FISHES
BEARS AND LAMBS
TREES AND FLOWERS
BEES AND RAIN
I BELONG
AMONG THEM
AND AMONG THEM I'LL REMAIN
ALIVE OR SLAIN
AND WHEN, ONE DAY
I'M CALLED AWAY
I'M HAPPY TO KNOW
THAT MOST OF ME
WILL ALWAYS STAY
AMONG ALL THAT IS OR WILL EVER BE
MY SACRED, PERHAPS MY ONLY, ETERNITY
IT IS, BY FAR, ENOUGH FOR ME

THE NIGHT OF TIME by Ocean

THE BLANKET OF TIME
FALLS SILENTLY
OVER ALL OF US.
FOR A TIME,
THE HUGE DARK HAND
OF GOD
WAVED ACROSS THE VASTNESS
AND ANIMATED
THE TINY SPARKS OF EMBERS
TO SWIRL
AND DANCE
BUT FOR A FLASHING MOMENT,
THEN ALL WAS STILL AGAIN.
WHETHER WE,
OR OUR WORKS,
ARE KNOWN TO HUMANKIND-
OUR ONLY AUDIENCE,
AFTER ALL, ...
IS GOD.

SEA SERPENT by Ocean

AT SUNSET,
I WATCH
THE GREAT GREEN SERPENT
OF THE SEA,
TURNING HER SINUOUS BODY
BENEATH THE SURFACE SWELLS.
SWIRLING, WRITHING IN
SHEER ECSTASY,
FLINGING HUGE GOLDEN REFLECTIONS
OF HER GILDED SCALES
ONTO THE HEAVING WAVES
AS THEY TOSS THEMSELVES JOYFULLY
ONTO THE SHORE.
AND AS SHE TWISTS
HER METALLIC CURVES,
THE DEEP SONOROUS ROAR
OF HER LAUGHTER IS FELT
AS WELL AS HEARD,
AND THE MAGICAL EXCHANGE
OF SUNLIGHT
BETWEEN HER
AND THE FIERY SOLAR ORB
IS SO MAGNETIC,
SO BRILLIANT,
THAT WE TINY LIFEFORMS
MAY ONLY MARVEL
AT THE VASTNESS
OF MYSTERIOUS FORCES
WHICH SPIN MARVELOUS SPELLS AND CURRENTS
AROUND US ALL...

I BEQUEATH MYSELF TO THEE, GREAT SEA! BY OCEAN

OH, GREAT SEA
WHOM I ADORE
WHOSE STRONG WAVES
REACH INTO SHORE
WILL YOU THINK
AT ALL OF ME
WHEN I AM
HERE NO MORE?
AM I E'EN
A MERE REFLECTION
OF LIGHT
FALLEN IN ON THEE?
(IS THERE EVEN
THE MEREST CHANCE
THAT I AM
BUT OUGHT TO THEE?)
ARE THE TIMES I'VE SPENT
IN REVERENCE
BEFORE YOUR
VAST SUBLIME ELEGANCE
YOUR ETERNAL FACE
DOES IT EMBRACE
FEELINGS INSIDE?
AM I THE ONLY ONE
SLAVE OF YOUR BEAUTY
ONLY ON ONE SIDE?
OR IS MY TINY HOUR
IN THIS PLAY OF LIFE
SO INCONSEQUENTIAL
TO YOUR ENDLESS SPACE
THAT MY MERE SMALL PRESENCE
HAS NO NEED OF GRACE?
HAS ALL THE DEPTH OF FEELING
THAT I'VE SPENT
UPON YOU
WILL I ONLY BE FORGOTTEN
WHEN I AM (HERE) NO MORE?
WILL I BE NOTHING
ON YOUR VACANT SHORE?
MY TEARS SWELL NOT
YOUR WAVES IMPLORE?
AND WILL MY VOICE
OF ANGUISHED DELIGHT
REACH NOT YOUR DEPTHS
OF ETERNAL NIGHT
AND WHEN YOUR GLISTENING
BUBBLES I CAN
CHASE NO MORE
YOUR TIRELESS FOAM
YOUR CEASELESS ROAR
AND I CAN NO LONGER
YOU ADORE
WILL YOU EVEN MISS ME
NOT STANDING ON YOUR SHORE?
OH, PRAY, KEEP ME WITH THEE!
OH, KEEPER OF MY SOUL!
JOY OF MY FEELINGS
GOD OF MY ALL!
I MUST STAY IN
YOUR EMBRACE
NOT TENDER- I
CARE NOT WHICH OF
ALL THY MOODS-
JUST THAT I BE
THERE ALWAYS
WITH YOU!
AND WHEN MY FRAIL BODY
HAS CHANGED ITS FORM
I BEG YOU TO PLAY
UPON MY CELLS
AND BRING THEM
BACK AGAIN
DISSOLVE- IMPART-
I CARE NOT WHAT,
BUT THAT I WANT TO STAY
A PART OF YOUR GREAT
WATERS
FOREVER AND AWAY
BEQUEATH ME YOU
MY BODY-
YOU HAVE ALWAYS
OWNED MY
SOUL
MY LOVE FOR YOU
GREAT OCEAN
I FAR BEYOND CONTROL
I'LL BE YET A PART OF THEE
A PARTICLE,
A DROP,
AND IN YOU I'LL TASTE
FOREVERNESS
ETERNITY
IN YOUR GREEN GRACE
YOUR GILDED FACE!
AS ONE!
WITH THEE!
(IN THY ETERNITY!)

END OF TRANQUIL DAY OF SEA by Ocean

OCEAN
YOU SUSTAIN ME
YOU'LL ALWAYS BE
MY MAIN HARMONY
AND I, YOUR ECHO
WILL EXPRESS
AN ETERNAL TENDERNESS
AND EVER SING
DUETS WITH THEE
AND YOU ARE
ALWAYS THERE WITH ME
NOW, SOFTEST SEA BREEZE
CALLS TO ME
-AS I ALWAYS REMEMBER THEE
AND I WEEP TO SEE
THE WANTON SHREDS
OF SILVERY THREADS
OF SEAWEED CAST
UPON THE DRIFT
AND LEFT IN
SUCH BEAUTEOUS
DISARRAY
AMONG THE GOLDEN SHARDS
OF DAY
AND GLISTENING
UPON THE BEACH
THE OCEAN NOW
BEYOND THEIR REACH
THE RIPPLED CURVES
OF SANDY DUNES
ARE PLAYED UPON
LIKE MISTY TUNES
BY RUFFLED FRINGES
OF SHUFFLED WAVES
COME IN - GO OUT
THE CALMING SHEEN
OF GLASSY SATIN
IN BETWEEN
AND TRANQUIL SO
THE SETTING ORB
HIS FIRE TRAILS
YOUR BREAST ABSORBS
AND THROWS BACK LIGHT
UPON THE SKY
IN SHEETS OF IRRIDESCENT
SHEEN
SMOOTHE WRINKLES
GLITTER AND WEAN
THEMSELVES FROM SUCH
A BRIGHTENED DAY
HAVE MUTED RAINBOWS
ALL THE WAY
TO SILKEN PASTELS
'MONG THE FOLDS
THE OCEAN PUSHES
OUT OF WAY
AND BECKONING THE
INDIGO
ABVANCE OF NIGHT
THE GOLDEN GLOW
WILL BRING UPON
IT'S BROW
IN TOW
AND SPREAD BEYOND
TO WELCOME ALL
THE MIRACLE
OF STARS BELOW
WHERE NEWLY-DARKENED
THEN, THE WAVES
WILL TWINKLE ON
YOUR SOMBER
TURNS
UPHEAVALS, ROLLS,
AND UNDULATES
THE MOON WILL SOON
BE UP TO TAKE
HER MASTERY OF
ALL THE SKY
AS, AGELESS,
OCEAN ROLLS AND SIGHS
