UPDATE: We resumed rehearsals in July 2021 - now in the middle of festive preparations for a number of local sets and sessions.

Music Makers of Milton Keynes are a community choir with an emphasis on singing for fun ... mixing up a range of styles and sounds.

We are a welcoming bunch, with a range of backgrounds, ages, experience and a blend of multi-part harmonies - whether accompanied or a cappella.

We perform at local events, collaborate with other musical groups, take bookings for sessions and hold our own concerts.

MMMK looked to re-start when possible in 2021, and we're now concentrating on practice and new pieces again, welcoming newcomers now the remaining restrictions are lifted - so it's a good time to try out and see if you'd like to join! We are also settling in well with our new music director Andrew Winder, who is arranging some contemporary pieces for the group.

We had to miss our usual fixture for Stony Live! 2020 - postponed until 2021 - since leaving little scope for preparation given the extra limitations on choirs in advance. We're starting back smaller-scale for this Christmas - venues and sessions linked from our Events Calendar.

See our Events Calendar to keep up to date with our rehearsal slots, future engagements, and for venue information.

We concluded our festive commitments in 2019 - our annual concert with Brackley Wind Ensemble was preceded with choir members joining Wolverton Light Orchestra for their Christmas Concert - with the chorus nearly at full strength. We'd like to thank our previous long-standing music director Brian Dipple for all his efforts on our behalf - vocally, in partnerships, collaborations, and particularly with the trips abroad.

Earlier on we successfully completed our Summer 2019 tour in Germany Rhine & Moselle, with a number of local events beforehand - including our regular Stony Live! fixture, and variations on our set list with BWE in Westbury.

Our collaborations usually take turns to perform locally to MK, or around Bucks & Northants. Lifts can be arranged with members if needed.

In our 30th year, we performed jointly with BWE - in Sulgrave Manor prior to our Belgium Tour over Summer 2016, in Ypres, Menin Gate, Bruges and Ghent cathedrals. In the anniversary run-up, we reprised and joined forces with Wendy Kitching's dancers, for a 'Summertime Spectacular' in a return to Stantonbury Theatre in June 2015.

We are planning around our 2021/2022 commitments; if you have an occasion or collaboration in mind, please do get in touch.

We always welcome new members, without audition; entertaining Milton Keynes since 1985. While we are based in Stony Stratford, we regularly reach wider audiences. We are also very interested in joining in with local events as part of our community ethos.

Would you like to join in?

If you would like to join and sing with us, you are very welcome to come along to a rehearsal. We will be delighted to see you. Our rehearsals page has more detail on timings and location. As we restart post-restrictions, the first few sessions are likely to be more fluid and dependent on the weather for larger group singing outdoors, and we may split the group up at times to do smaller sections if needed. First rehearsal is free.

Covid-security: we are asking all members and visitors to bring their own refreshments, rather than using communal facilities for the time being. Please bring a mask or other face covering when moving through indoor spaces.

Find out about the events we have planned; a gallery and footage from past performances, and some more information about the group and earlier history.
