Concerts  at  St.  Chrysostom's

2017

Tuesday, January 17 at 7:30 P. M.

An Evening at the Café Zimmerman
Chamber Music of Johann Sebastian Bach

Join us by the fireside upstairs in the Guild Hall as we recreate an evening of music, much like Bach would have enjoyed. Wine and coffee for all, served before and during the concert!

Come early, at 6:45 p.m., for a pre-concert chat about the music and Bach's musical evenings.

One of J.S. Bach’s greatest joys in Leipzig was composing chamber music for his Collegium Musicum, a group of professional and amateur musicians, students, and visiting virtuosi that met regularly to perform concerts at an upscale coffee house owned by the music-lover and arts patron, Gottfried Zimmermann. Please join us as we recreate one of these Collegium concerts with music for baroque flute, violin, viola da gamba, and harpsichord, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee or a complimentary glass of wine as we whisk you away from a cold winter’s night in Chicago to the cozy confines of Zimmermann’s Kaffeehaus.

Taya König-Tarasevich, baroque flute
SunYoung Shin, baroque violin
Anna Steinhoff , viola da gamba
