Old Pioneer Church, 669 County Rd. 28, Fishs Eddy, NY 13774 Admission is free _________________________________ JULY 21 at 2pm: KLENENGAN: A MUSICAL GATHERING WITH JAVANESE GAMELAN This traditional bronze percussion ensemble will be led by Darsono Hadiraharjo, a renowned musician from Surakarta, Java. It will begin at 2 pm, and music will continue until around 6pm. As is the convention, he audience is free to come and go, enjoy snacks, and even chat quietly. The ensemble will include Christopher J. Miller, Director of the Cornell Gamelan, along with players arriving from various parts of the Northeast. The instruments are being being transported to Fishs Eddy from Cornell University. ________________________________________ AUGUST 11 at 3pm: ALLEN KRANTZ CLASSICAL GUITAR RECITAL Music by Weiss, Chopin, Vivaldi, and the World Premiere of Krantz's new composition: Prelude and Rondo, for guitar and harpsichord with Joyce Lindorff, harpsichord A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory and Stanford University, Allen Krantz has received acclaim as a composer, solo guitarist, and chamber musician. His performances throughout the United States have included appearances at Carnegie Hall, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Phillips Collection in Washington. Mr. Krantz heads the guitar program at Temple University. His compositions and arrangements have been published by Theodore Presser, Falls House Press, and International Music. _______________________________________________ AUGUST 25 at 3pm: HARPSICHORD MUSIC FROM AROUND THE WORLD Joyce Lindorff and Silvanio Reis, harpsichord The performers will join forces to present baroque and contemporary compositions from China, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, German, Austria, and USA Brazilian-born Silvanio Reis earned his doctorate in keyboard performance at Temple University. He maintains a nonstop schedule that includes solo and chamber music recitals, and lectures in the United States and Brazil. He has received the "Olga Gagliardi Guetto" award for his keyboard accomplishments. As a teacher he is in much demand in Philadelphia, where he is currently based, and holds specialties in the Taubman and Suzuki pedagogies. Music at Fishs Eddy founder and Artistic Director Joyce Lindorff is Professor of Keyboard Studies at the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, Philadelphia and has concertized internationally, receiving solo recitalist awards from the Pro Musicis Foundation (France) and National Endowment for the Arts. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School (DMA), University of Southern California (MM) and Sarah Lawrence College (BA) |
