Welcome to the home page for the Muscatine Beginning Band Program.  We have information for you on choosing an instrument, school instruments, lesson schedules, rehearsal schedules and concert dates.  There are also some useful links to the music stores and smartmusic.  Questions about the programs can be directed to Alyce Spoto alyce.spoto@mcsdonline.org or Lee Plummer lee.plummer@mcsdonline.org

Beginning band display nights are September 10, from 4:00 to 4:30 PM and 6:00 to 6:30 PM at Jefferson Elementary School and September 11,  from 4:00 to 4:30 PM and 6:00 to 6:30 PM at Jefferson Elementary school.  The band directors will speak about beginning band expectations and West music, Griggs Music,  and Ritchie Sound will be available to rent instruments.


Beginning Band Super lesson is September 18,  6:00 to 7:00 PM at Muscatine High School. If you are renting an instrument or receiving a school instrument, you may pick it up from 5:30-6:00 at Muscatine High School.


If you cannot attend the Super lesson and are receiving an instrument from West, Griggs, Ritchie or the school, please let the appropriate people know so we may make other arrangements to connect the student with their instrument.  We  also recommend watching one of the tutorials on how to assemble your instrument.  Just Click on a Link Below.

Alyce Spoto

Alyce Spoto is a flute major from the University of Iowa.  She graduated in 1989 after receiving her degree in Music Education.   Alyce earned her Master's degree in Education from St. Xavier University in 2008.  She taught for a few years in smaller districts before moving to Muscatine. She has been teaching instrumental music at all levels in Muscatine since 1994. When not teaching or playing she is showing her dogs in local and national competitions.
