Welcome to the home page for the Muscatine Beginning Band Program. We have information for you on choosing an instrument, school instruments, lesson schedules, rehearsal schedules and concert dates. We currently do not have any Beginning band display nights scheduled. At a display night, The band directors will speak about beginning band expectations and West music, and Ritchie Sound will be available to rent instruments.

Alyce Spoto is a flute major from the University of Iowa. She graduated in 1989 after receiving her degree in Music Education. Alyce earned her Master's degree in Education from St. Xavier University in 2008. She taught for a few years in smaller districts before moving to Muscatine. She has been teaching instrumental music at all levels in Muscatine since 1994. When not teaching or playing she is showing her dogs in local and national competitions.
Nate Rickard is a french horn major from the University of Iowa. He graduated in 1996 after receiving his degree in Music Education. Mr. Rickard has completed additional coursework from VanderCook College, Drake University, Graceland College, and The University of North Dakota. The majority of these classes were focused on the concept of social-emotional learning and the problem-solving techniques of Dr. William Glasser, the creator of "Choice Theory." Mr. Rickard is the 2008 Walmart Teacher of the Year and one of the Muscatine Excellence of Education recipients for 2016.
