Figured out how to create RSS feeds on a Google Site:
  • In Sites, click on the "Add a Page" button

  • You will be prompted to select a template

  • Click the button and choose "Announcements"
  • Using Announcements makes RSS feeds of your posts automatically
    • For non-domain users, a link for users to subscribe to your RSS feeds is automatically placed on your page
    • For domain users, you will have to instruct users to enter your URL and add "posts.xml" at the end into their RSS reader
      • For example, https://URL/posts.xml
      • We have a domain for our school and this is what I had to enter into the RSS reader that I use: https://sites.google.com/a/sanandreashigh.com/sahs-announcements/announcements/posts.xml

On the subject of RSS readers, a great alternative to Google Reader (when it goes away) is Feedly. Feedly imports your Google Reader feeds so you don't have to lose them and start all over. The Feedly app for Android is very attractive and easy to use.
