I am a PhD student under the supervision of Paul Francis in the Security & Privacy group at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS) in Germany.
After joining the institute I got first advised by Umut Acar and then by Allen Clement, who left for Carnegie-Mellon University (CMU) and Google Zürich in Fall 2012 and Summer 2014 respectively.
I graduated with a MSIT degree with specialization in Very Large Information Systems from CMU, where I worked with Dave Andersen in his FAWN group, which is affiliated with the Parallel Data Lab (my page there) and Intel Labs Pittsburgh.
My Vordiplom in Computer Science I received from the Institut für Informatik at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.
For more information, please have a look at my current résumé.
My research interests revolve around systems and how they can be improved to benefit users, providers, and the environment.
In my current project with Paul I am investigating practical privacy protecting mechanisms for data analytics systems.
With Allen I looked at user satisfaction during peak system loads, while with Umut and Dave I focused on energy efficiency and failure resilience in large-scale distributed environments.
During my time in different research groups I always had and still have the pleasure to work with amazing people.
Some non-exhaustive sample: Arthur, Ekin, Ezgi, Imran, Iulian, Matt, Mike, Mustafa, Nancy, and Natacha.
Thanks guys! And thanks to all my other friends at MPI, CMU, and Uni Würzburg.
