My Return

Wow, it's hard to believe that I haven't updated my website since May of last year. This is probably because I have been busy making the transition to my first year of high school. As a result of this transition and the much greater amount of work I have had to do compared to middle school, in addition to my extremely annoying and persistent procrastination habit, I have not had the time or energy to do anything outside of school besides play video games (speaking of which, if any of you have a PS3, my username is Munzapoppa). This includes making brickfilms.

This does not mean that I haven't made any films, however. I have actually managed to make three different films for various school projects this year. The first one is Never Go Against the Family, a film that I originally wrote the script for back in August 2008 and finally finished this past December as an independent project for my Media Communications 1 class (a TV production class offered at my school). The second is Real Life Biology: Energy, a short video describing the properties of energy that I made for my Honors Biology class. The third and final film I have finished recently is a trailer for the novel "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, which I finished for my English class just last week.

That's what I have done lately regarding brickfilming. Regarding the future, I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do (this is common with other aspects of my life). I would love to continue to make films, but I have been struggling with a lot of internal conflict lately over basically everything in my life. This, in addition to my habit of putting off my school work until it's due (I've had to stay up past midnight many nights this year for varying amounts of work), in addition to the work itself (I'm taking two Honors classes right now in my freshman year, and I want to take more Honors/AP in future years) has made my life very stressful and confusing. I really need to figure out what my plans are for my life in the future, and continuing my brickfilming hobby may or may not be one of them. We'll just have to see. Anyway, since I rarely ever update this, feel free to send me a message on Twitter or Youtube about my site, or just anything in general.

My first real brickfilming accomplishment

I just found out today that my film Man's Best Friend got accepted into the directory at bricksinmotion.com. While technically, all films submitted to the directory are "accepted" (except for the really low quality films) into the directory and can be viewed under the "All Films" tab on the film page (4 of my other films are there under this category), this film is special. Man's Best Friend has been picked as one of the better brickfilms on the site, and is put into the "Reccomended" section of films, and well as being displayed on the sidebar of the site (until enough films get accepted and bump my film off the main page). So offically, I've made a good film. Feels pretty good.

Twitter is a blog for lazy people

Today I realized that I am way too lazy/busy/distracted by other things on the internet to regularly post in a blog (especially one that's hosted on a site I rarely update). So I've decided to get a Twitter account. This way, I can get straight to the point about things without having to type much (they only allow 140 characters per post). I'll try and make regular updates about my brickfilming status (when I'm actually working on a film), but I can't make any promises.

Reflection

I finally got around to making another film, which you can watch here. In other news, I've recently found out about the 2009 Bricks in Motion offical contest, which is named STAR (for Space, Time, And Reality). I will be making a film for this, so you can expect a new film on July 26th.

Blog Added (Brickfilming Status Also)

Today, after seeing a fellow brickfilmer's site and blog (which is part of his site), I got to thinking about how little I update this site (or brickfilm, as of late), and there are many things running through my mind that I should really write down somewhere so I don't forget them. Well, hopefully starting a blog on my site, which you can enter through this door, will get me to A) Help me remember to update this site every now and again, B) By doing that, motivating me to work on my films more (and actually complete some), and C) Get me to do/think more interesting things worthy of blog posts. Let's see how this little experiment goes. I'll try and post in it at least once a week, maybe even more often.

EDIT: I have decided to set aside my current project, Never Go Against the Family, for at least a few months. This is for two reasons: 1) I've just been letting the set and project just sit there for the past two months, which has caused me to forget many of the ideas for it I had, and 2) I want to work on a project that will increase my filmmaking skills, since I am starting to seriously consider a future career in video production (which includes TV, music videos, film, anything related to video). I do have a few ideas for other films, so I'll probably working on something new sometime soon.

New THAC 6 Film

Yesterday, I worked for 18 hours (until 1 AM!) making this, my entry into the Twenty Four Hour Animation Contest 6. Enjoy! Oh, and Happy New Year!

How Things Are Going

I am officially THE laziest person ever. I honestly haven't touched this site in months, mostly because of school, and wanting to take a break from brickfilming. But I am ready to start brickfilming again, and I will make sure to have a film up sometime in the next few months. It will either be the new film I am working, a mafia film called Never Go Against the Family, or a film for THAC 6, which is going to take place the first week of January. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about my movies, or the people that watch them.

Extreme Site Neglect

Whoa. I haven't updated this site in a long time. Probably due to the extreme urge to be lazy during summer.

Anyway, I'm almost done with Customer Service, and it should probably be here at the very least by next weekend. It's taken me long enough to film it (due to laziness). Seriously, I built the sets before Man's Best Friend was released.

After Customer Service, I'll probably release a montage clip or two, and work on my Late For Work clip. Then I'll either make a music video for the song "Stop!", or make a crime film that I started scripting today.

Also, I started a contest on Bricksinmotion.com, similar to THAC, except it runs for a week instead of a day. It's cleverly titled BRAWL (Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long). Go check it out.

Man's Best Friend Released

Yes, the time is finally here. After 5 months of work, I can finally release what I consider to be my best film so far, Man's Best Friend.

YouTube link

I'll try and get a film page with download links up soon. In the mean time, sit back and enjoy the longest film I have ever made.

In other news, I have decided to drop out of the Comedy and Plots (CAP) competition. I have done this mainly because I am sick of having deadlines for my films, and I want to put some effort into Customer Service, and make it the best film it can be. I have started a production blog for the film, which I will try to update every now and again.

Munzapoppa out.

Slight site change

I've done a bit of a layout change to the site, moving the links to all the pages over to the left. Hopefully now it is easier to navigate through the site.

In other news, I am finally done filming Man's Best Friend. I'm now starting to put together the final film, which is awesome. Honestly, I think this is going to be my best film yet by far, and I can't wait to release it next Sunday.

Man's Best Friend Trailer

Yesterday, I released a trailer for my upcoming film Man's Best Friend. Here it is. As for how the actual film is going, I'm probably going to finish filming either tonight or tommorrow. Editing shouldn't take me very long, since I've been editing as I've been going. If everything goes according to plan, I should be able to release it next Sunday, June 29th. It will be an entry into the FAR competition, but after that, I am leaving brickfilms.com for good. There has simply been too much crap going on at that site for me to continue visiting.

After Man's Best Friend, comes an even tougher challenge: making Customer Service by July 1st, which is the deadline of the Comedy and Plots (CAP) contest, which I plan to enter it into. I haven't even started building the sets, so it will be close. If I don't get it in by the contest deadline, I will still finish the film, however.

One more thing. A few months ago, I started a webcomic, called "Blob World". It was only a few weeks ago, that I decided to make an actual site, and here it is! I update the comic every other day, so if you're looking for some Munzapoppic (thanks to bricksinmotion.com member Bastetta for inventing that word) humor while new films aren't being released, look there.

You're not going to be Welcomed to Paradise

That's right, folks. I've decided to cancel Welcome to Paradise. The reason is that I simply don't have the patience to wait until probably Mid July to start filming this again. Even then, I'm not sure if I'd get the entire thing filmed by the start of the school year in September. Plus, I've really lost motivation to continue working on it. It's really just a weight hanging on me that I really don't want. Also, it most of the film was going to be a montage of random, mostly unconnected scenes, and I've been having a hard time coming up with ideas for the separate scenes.

But, I am going to make a different Green Day music video this summer, this time set to the song "Redundant". It will probably take a lot less time to film, since it's not going to have as many sets as Welcome to Paradise was going to have. It's also a shorter song, which is good.

Hope your Mother's Day didn't Go Bad

I made a new film, for Mother's Day, as a present to my mom. You can see the film here, on YouTube. I will try to get a film page up soon. Other than that, things are continuing as planned in the last update. I might also release a montage clip soon.

Catching up

Hello. Just thought I'd let you know what's been happening in the studio, since I haven't updated in a few weeks. For starters, I am continuing to film Man's Best Friend. I have made the decision that if I get the film done in time, I am going to enter FAR (Frendships and Rivalries, the contest that I started making this film for). Right now, I'm in the middle of working on the second of four scenes, and I've got a little over a month left to finish (unless an extension is made, which seems probable).

I'm also scripting a few other films, including Customer Service, and an epic Western film, which will take place entirely on a train. This film isn't going to be made for a long while, because I've got other projects, and every now and then, my life gets in the way. Customer Service is the film I am going to start filming immediately after production of MBF is complete, and I expect it to be released in early July.

If you're wondering what's happening with my music video, Welcome to Paradise, it's still on production hiatus. However, after MBF and Customer Service are finished, I do intend to dedicate a large chunk of my summer vacation to getting this project filmed. It's been about 7 months since I started it, and I really want to see it get finished by the end of this year. I hope that I can do it.

One last thing of note: Recently, a community project has started on ilovebrickfilming.com (BTW, speaking of community projects, I dropped out of Project Super, due to lack of motivation, and wanting to focus on my personal brickfilming projects). Anyways, this new community project is going to be a montage of iconic film scenes, recreated in brickfilms. I intend to participate in this, and I've got a few scenes in mind.

That's all for now. I won't have any more brickfilms coming out for a couple of months, but I promise it will be worth it.

The criminal had an untimely misunderstanding

Well, as promised, I have two new films for you. The first one, called Criminal Misunderstanding, which is my official THAC 5 entry, can be seen here. The second film, Untimely Interruption, can be seen here. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to make any THACumentaries, since they interfered with making my films.

I also plan on redesigning the film page, so I'm not going to make film pages for them until everything is set up.

New film(s)... coming next week!

Well, the first round of THAC 5 has completed, and I successfully entered, with my second longest brickfilm ever. However, I am not allowed to post it online anywhere until next Sunday. This is so that the contest could be fair to the people who are participating in the second round of the competition next Saturday. Speaking of which, I plan to make another film for THAC next weekend, but since Spring Break is over, I might not be able to. But, you will be treated to at least one new film next Sunday.

March 26th, 2008

New film coming soon!

Well, THAC 5 was just announced (officially, I've known about it for several weeks now) today. I am extremely excited, because I will be able to use the entire 24 hour time frame for  the first time ever. Expect a new film  this Sunday, and maybe even a THACumentary (a video documenting my THAC expierience, if you don't know what that means).

EDIT: Actually, this year, THAC is going to be on two separate days, due to a controversy over the host announcing the contest too close to the start date. We're allowed to make films on both days, so you might just see two new films from me soon. Which also means two THACumentaries. Awesome.

A much needed update

If you visit this site, you probably also visit brickfilms.com, and have seen the insane amount of chaos that has gone on in the past few days with the abrupt change in administration. You might have also seen my post, in which I state that I am leaving brickfilms.com and going to a new brickfilming site that has been formed, and that I am also dropping out of FAR, the competition that I am making Man's Best Friend for. I have made this update to tell you that even though I am dropping out of the contest, and leaving brickfilms.com, I will still continue on with all of my projects, including Man's Best Friend. Even though, in my opinion, brickfilms.com has just gone down the toilet (metaphorically speaking), I will still brickfilm, and release new films on a regular basis.
