Mainstage Productions
Mainstage Productions are produced in conjunction with the Department of Theatre and Dance.  These full-scale productions are staged in the Baker Theatre, the Empie Theatre, or the Studio Theatre.  There are three Mainstage Productions per semester.  Mainstage Productions are frequently directed and designed by the faculty and guest artists, but sometimes Theatre Majors approved by the faculty are also eligible to direct or design a Mainstage.

Current Mainstage Season

Production Info - Information for Mainstage Productions will be given during MTA meetings and via email during the fall and spring semesters.

Auditions - Sign up sheets for audition slots will be in a location that is announced during a general meeting.  You must contact the stage manager of the production in advance if you are unable to attend your audition time, or else you revoke your right to be cast in any production that semester of that status.

Casting - no individual will be cast in more than one mainstage each semester. If directors desire the same actor(s), the conflict is generally resolved by a discussion covering a number of factors including which part would be best for the actor's education and which show would benefit from the actor most.

Cast Lists - Cast lists will be sent out via email and posted on the MTA bulletin board in Seegers as well as the Lavender Lounge.

Student Directors - Student directors are chosen through an application process their junior year.

Assistant Positions - Information regarding assistant positions will be given throughout the semester. You may also contact the MTA secretary or the Stage Manager of the show for more information.

Reserving a Space - The Stage Manager of a Mainstage Production is responsible for contacting the General Manager in the Theatre Office in order to sign out rehearsal space.

2 rule - Mainstages DO count for the "2 Rule." To read more about the "2 Rule," click here.
