Muhammad Fraz

I work as a Research Engineer in the field of Computer Vision and Biomedical Imaging. I obtained my PhD in Computer Vision at Loughborough University, UK in 2015.

Soon after submitting my PhD thesis, I joined Oxehealth Ltd. I work in the team of researchers and engineers aiming at the development of IP and solutions for camera based physiological vital signs extraction and monitoring of humans under observation medically or in other scenarios. The work involves careful analysis of the problems, thinking novel ideas, quick prototyping in MATLAB/PYTHON, testing on relevant data. Once the prototype solution achieves desired accuracy then the porting in the main product code base is performed using C++ through unit test driven approach. Apart from algorithm development and directly contributing to the main product, the work also involves visiting the client sites and active contribution in pilot projects and research studies at various client sites. This helps to develop the understanding of broad range of scenarios that the monitoring system might face.

Before moving to UK I worked as a Lecturer (From 2006 till 2011) in the Electrical Engineering department of COMSATS Institute of Technology in Pakistan. There I were actively involve in research as a member of Computer Vision Research Group COMVis.

Research Interests: Human detection and Localisation, Surveillance Video Annotations, Vehicle Make and Model Recognition, Text Detection and Recognition.

Key Skills: C/C++, Python, MATLAB, SQL
